D-LINK DIR 2660 with COVR 1100
« on: January 31, 2021, 01:06:44 AM »

Hi all, I’d appreciate some help if possible. I recently bought the DIR 2660 as my original Wi-fi wasn’t covering my house. Following purchasing this, the coverage still wasn’t great an the network kept kicking off devices if you weren’t close enough to it. This led me to buy the 2 pack COVR 1100. Sadly I can’t seem to set these up on the same network (even in bridge), therefore have had to create a separate network. I have to have the separate on on channel 20/40 as my ring doorbell and a couple of other devices don’t accept 5 GHz. The coverage is still not great and I’m now at a loss as I’ve spent over £200 and I have very quick fibre optic broadband that I can’t properly use.

Any advice would be great as I’m not overly technically minded.

Link>Welcome!

  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?

The COVR and DIR router systems are not interchangeable nor wirelessly connectable. You can run one or the other in AP mode and use it as a 2ndary wifi signal with a different SSID name and different channels.

The DAP2660 works with DAP model extenders, i.e. DAP-1820

What is the SQ FT of your home?

I’m not sure as I’m in the (UK). Fibre Optic broadband

144 SQ FT for each floor and there are 3 floors.

That’s frustrating, it thought you could use the 2660 as the router with the COVR as an extender / MESH from the router.

You might contact your regional D-Link office and check to be sure. Though I believe the COVR systemss are only compatible with COVR systems only. Ask them which DAP model would be best for the DIR router.
