Camera network and video stream problem
Camera Name: DCS-942LB
Firmware Version: 2.10.07
Hardware Version: B
Tested on 3 cameras, same models and same configuration.
Problem/Failed: Everything working fine during initial setup and run.
But after 1 day test run,
Camera failed to stream video through http://IPADDRESS/video/mjpg.cgi or mobile app or DLink Web
Failed to ping the IP address assigned to the camera.
Cannot open camera menu from the web(through IP address)
IP Camera web server hang
Only solution: Recycle power
Back to default Time & Date: 2015/1/1 20:00:00
TEST 1: Default setting/untouched.
IP Address: 10.17.96.33:8080
Result: Had a problem as per describe above
TEST 2: Replace camera
Replace D-Link DCS-942L(S/N:R36U6G7000568) with New D-Link DCS-942L(S/N:R36U6GA000171) and run on original LAN(10.17.96.33:8080)
Result: Had a problem as per describe above
TEST 3: Change IP
10.17.96.34:8080 is used by another brand camera(CameraX) which is working fine for more tha 6 months.
Replace 10.17.96.34:8080 with 10.17.96.33:8080.
So new setup:
CameraX: 10.17.96.33:8080
DCS-942L: 10.17.96.34:8080
Result:
CameraX with IP 10.17.96.33:8080 working fine after 1 day test run.
DCS-942L with IP 10.17.96.34:8080 failed. Had a problem as per describe above
TEST 4: Camera setting
Disable Camera setting Network UPnP
Result: Had a problem as per describe above
TEST 5: Network port
Change current port 8080 to port 80
Result: Had a problem as per describe above
TEST 6: Firmware update
Update Firmware 2.10.07 to 2.12.04
Result: Had a problem as per describe above
Conclusion:
This will not solve the problem:
1) Default/untouched setting
2) Change camera
3) Change IP address
4) UPnp disable/enable in camera setting
5) Change network port
6) Firmware update
Other camera brand working fine with the same setting as in DSC-942L.
Only DCS-942L always having hang problem. Restart camera everyday is not a solution.
Please advice. Thank you.

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)
- What region are you located?
What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool as a troubleshooting step: 192.168.#.10 and .11 DHCP (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58017.0)
Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=62395.0)

I'm from Malaysia.
I'm using office internet connection. Not sure what is the router and the configuration since it is in the server room.
I've been testing in wired mode using static IP.
I've been testing with uPnP enable/disable, no luck.
Will try uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled and report back the result.

Possible ISP and main host router issue. Can you try the camera at home as a test?
May need to ask your network admin for help and information on this as well and configuration with the work networking.

Hi,
I did a try uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled. Same problem.
I test it at home, it work fine. in other office also working fine.
I did not have any access to internet setting in office. Why only Dlink camera had this problem? We have another camera F-Series from China which working fine.
Is there any specific setting in router/modem that had to follow Dlink requirement to make it work without hang?
Please advice.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

As a work around solution, I setup the reboot schedule for the IP camera to reboot every 7am. Unfortunately, the reboot did not happen at time. The camera is completely died. Only after recycle power the camera will recover it and it work again. This happen on all 3 IP Camera we have. This only happen at our office network. Tested at home it did working fine, but after 1-2 weeks, the same problem happen. Need to reboot the camera. Sometimes, after reboot, the camera did not working as per normal because all the setting is factory reset by itself. I need to reconfigure it back again.
What is the root cause of this problem? Please advice.
