Whats new on firmware 2.34 for DIR-635?
« on: October 11, 2012, 09:12:09 PM »

Hello,

I just found that there's a new firmware around for the good old DIR-635 that I have.

However, I have 2 questions:

1) what's the good news? Where I can see the firmware change log?
2) on http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/, I see several options for the 2.34 firmware:

DIR-635 B3 F/W v2.34EU (for EU)
DIR-635 B3 F/W v2.34WW (for WW)
DIR-635 B3 F/W v2.35EA (for EA)

--> what is this difference? 'for EU', 'for WW', 'for EA', 'for DI', etc etc

Thanks!!

What region are you located?

EU is for EUrope
WW is for World Wide
EA is for East Asia I believe.

If your NA or North America, these other builds are not recommended. WW might work however might not be to NA spec. Theres a PDF that has release notes.

Is the 635 working?

Yes the 635 is working fine. I have the 232 for EA firmware. I'm located in Brazil, but I really doubt they have a firmware for south america or something like that.

Actually I would like to use the 635 as a REPEATER for the DSL-2730b modem/wireless router I have. But it looks like there's no such option :-(

I was looking for the opposite (the dsl 2730b as the REPEATER for the 635) but the only similar option on the 2730b is the 'wireless bridge' mode that you can find under the Advanced settings for the 2730b. However, I could not setup it to work, the signal scan was unable to find my SSID even with the equipmentes side-by-side. (I was looking for help for the 2730b but could not find a dedicated area for this equipment on the D-Link Forums. Can you help me with it?)

Regards,
