Can"t Gain Access To Router
« on: December 24, 2012, 09:23:33 AM »

I bought this router from a rummage sale, and it works great. The only problem is, I cannot access it to set up a password. I have downloaded the manual, and tried the troubleshooting. I disabled the firewall, did the reset button on the back of the router, but all I keep getting is "The Connection Has Timed Out" error message. I also went to the emulator site, but it said that there was no support any longer for that model. I have tried this on both Internet Explorer and Firefox. I personally have Windows 7, and on Comcast.
I looked around, but did not find any simular issues, though I bet it has happened before.
Any help would be greately appreciated.

Do a Factory reset on the router? Should be able to get access afterwards using a browser at 192.168.0.1.

I tried your number (192.168.0.1) numerous times, and got the same results as before. So I checked my pc using the command prompt, and the ip address is actually 192.168.1.1. It gave me access to the router.
The thing is, the setup looks quite different than what is shown in the user manual I downloaded. The info seems to all be there, but the format is different. It's called "dd-wrt.com control panel". I was able to set a user password to the modem itself, but can't seem to figure out how to set a password to encrypt the wireless signal (as the setup on the pc has no instructions).

Seems like the one router doesn't have DLink Mfr Firmware installed. You'll need to refer to WRTs web site for help, support and information on that.

Yeah, these are flashable to DD-WRT.
