Problem:

CAM 933L is not able to create folders via FTP on my FTP server in my Netgear R7000 / AC1900. 933L can create files but no folders.

I have a call at D-Link USA (C6626838) -> they can't do anything because I bought the 933L in Europe !!!!!
I have a call at D-Link Europe (1285825) -> they can't do anything, they blame Netgear !!!!
I have a call at Netgear -> they can't do anything, they blame D-Link !!!! Just because every other FTP clients is working great, they are right!!!

I'm hopeless!!  >:(

For me it's clear. It's a bug in the 933L. The 933L is taking the action and must be able to create folders. Every other FTP client is able to do this. Why has the 933L problems with it???

Please escalate this issue !!! Please help. Such a simple problem can be fixed very easy by a D-Link 933L developer! I'm sure !! But please contact a developer!!!!!

Can you duplicate the old routers folder naming?
Create a similar adding 933l's mac address see that works for you
example>>>>>>>dcs933l_xxxxxxxxxxxx or however its created
Let me know if that works for you

I don't understand the last two posts (of 2015-03-09).

But the problem is reproduced at D-Link Europe (Sweden) today. Finally they are working on it. ;D

Hope they can fix it. :)

For the record I too have this same issue.
Router Net Gear C3700-100NAS (N600)
Extender/Repeater  EX6200-100NAS (AC1200)
(Network Attached Storage= USB 3.0 external drive)
DCS-933L (USA Purchase)
Firmware Version 1.07.01 (2015-02-04)
Region USA
Call Number C6639422

Spent 5+ hrs on phone with them  with no resolve. They even replicated this issue with other DCS-933L as well as DCS-2330L cameras and finally admitted to this being a glitch in firmware. For the 933L I was able to create a 933l folder on the USB/ftp server which connects successful for image uploads (no Videos).  Yet I cannot utilize the camera's full features and/or functions correctly due to this un-addressed glitch. I am fortunate for ftp image uploading albeit not correctly formatted to camera's features  for the 933l otherwise would be strictly a standalone live camera viewer with no means to save/post images or videos.

Hopefully others that have similar issues would take a moments time to post hoping that perhaps someone's light bulb on D-Link software engineers staff addresses this.

PS I tried the ½hr,1hr and 1day folder options with no success kept getting unable to change folder or unable to create folder error messages when testing the ftp connections

Do you happen to have a different Mfr or model router?

Seems to be an issue with this model camera and NG.

For the record I too have this same issue.

At the present moment "No" to your question as far as a non-Net Gear router.

I do have (2) other non D-Link IP Camera's and they work flawlessly with the NG router and extender. As I mentioned before the tech's were able to replicate this issue with other DCS-933L's & DCS-2330L's cameras so its left into their hands to figure out what exactly is needed to correct this issue.

I guess hopefully the next FW release will resolve it.

I received a test firmware version 1.10. 03 for the 933L and the folder creation problem is fixed.

They will release it very soon, I guess.

Thanks D-Link Sweden.

I am happy it's solved.

For those that care to know why...  The reason of this issue is because the Netgear R7000 / AC1900’s return code for the FTP "create folder" command is different from other FTP servers. A new process to handle the new return code had to be added in firmware v1.10.B03 to make this work. A simple compatibility issue between the server and client used in these units.  No ETA yet on the new firmware release date for US region, but the process has started.

Just stumbled across this thread after spending literally the whole day trying to figure out why I was getting "Failed to create directory" when attempting the FTP test on my 932L to my new router, a Zyxel VMG8924-B10A. Note that my camera is a 932L, not 933L. Perhaps likely that other, if not all, Dlink cameras have this problem?

As above, unticking the create subfolder option fixes the issue.

BTW, my old router (with USB FTP) was a Thomson Speedtouch 585n which all worked fine. So it appears to not only be specific to Netgear routers!

I also have a Trendnet TV-IP851WIC camera which also suffers the same problem. The layout of the web gui seems rather similar to dlink cameras, I've always suspected some kind of similarity between the two..

Hoping for a camera-wide fix soon..!
