Title: DGL-4500 Firmware 1.15 on ftp site
Post by: motherfo on November 10, 2008, 07:35:51 PM
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dgl4500/firmware/dgl4500_firmware_115.zip

I don't know if this is beta or not, but it was last changed today.

Any good fixes?

¤ Fix Univision OLED bug
¤ Remove Enhanced IGMP Proxy GUI
¤ Add Routing page describe
¤ Fix Port Forwarding issue.

It's a final firmware.  Beta's are denoted by a "b" in the filename.

Looks like they skipped over v1.14 :)

I was wondering what was going on when Lycan never got back to me with the link for the beta firmware he offered me for testing.

Still having lots of trouble with games.  When I'm not hosting, it causes SEVERE lag still.  Still a VERY big problem.

I get disconnected from games after about 10-15 minutes.

Other misc. bugs:
-When gamefuel is enabled, and on automatic, it will detect the Cable connection as an xDSL Relay type.
-Wireless channels are still 4 apart when selecting either manually or else auto channel scan.
-Ports are forwarded correctly for games I currently have, and disconnect issues and latency still occur.

I'm using Port and Address Restricted while SPI is enabled, and UPnP is enabled as well.

Doesn't matter what it's set to, as it still causes disconnects.

Hi,
When I tell my router to look for newer fw it comes back saying that it is / has the latest fw. I am running 1.13.
Or do I have to go to the site?

http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DGL%2D4500  and go down the page to the fw links.  It's the top on listed on the menu and it's not beta.

Thanks Puffnstuff. I checked it today & when I tell it to search for updated fw it now shows the 1.15.
Thanks again.

Anyone know the difference between the 1.15 version and the b03 version?

v1.15 is the Final Release of this version

Where as v1.15 B3 is nothing more than a Beta  version of it.

The biggest thing is the Final Release version will always have tweaks and fixes in place that may not be present in the Beta versions and code will usually be Optimized too.

Plus seeing as this Firmware is for a Router, that means this is not a simple firmware for controlling a device.

Instead, the firmware itself is a Complete Computer Operating System, in most cases a customized version of Linux unless some other specialized Operating System should be required of which there are a few.

Yes.  I can't be connected via wireless for more than 10 minutes on any of my devices without turning wireless on and off again.  The issue exists wether it's b-only, g-only, n-only, or mixed.  I would expect the issue with n-only since it's still a draft, but everything should work fine.  After nearly a year of fighting, I think I'm going to give up and buy another router.

So far I am running it 1.15 and had a little learning curve in order to get it functioning but so far, knock on wood.  I have 1 hard line to a gaming rig (vista 64 ultimate), plus 3 wireless laptops (windows XP SP3), and one Wireless Desktop that I just installed(windows XP SP3).  None have run into any issues with the router only the drivers on the local machine.  The desktop I just built and I needed to install the driver 3 times due to Microsoft patches.  I wish I had a closer friend with a PS3 or other console to test connections.

So for me they seem Stable
