Title: cascading routers - DIR-601 - LAN works, cant connect to WIFI- please help
Post by: Foxtrot01 on April 29, 2013, 07:44:51 AM
Hello all,
first post here, I have a netgear router(main), and I just purchased a D-link DIR-601, I wanted to extend the wifi to my spare room and thought this was the cheapest option.

I connected the d-link to my laptop, entered to the main menu, set up the network, changed the passwords, I went to the wireless and changed the IP from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.2 and disabled DHCP.

I connected a ethernet cable from port 3 of the netgear(main) to port 1 of the Dlink DIR-601, I connected another cable from port 2 to the laptop.

The LAN works, the laptop is connected, I checked my phone for WIFI and could see the DIR-601 router, when I tried to connect it didnt allow me, I thought it was the password, I checked it and it is not the password. I tried searching for WIFI networks on the laptop, I could see and tried to connect, it timed out saying it couldn't access, don't remember the exact message but it was not about the password.

Any assistance is much appreciated.
