DIR-645 EOL
« on: December 30, 2019, 03:49:38 PM »

Hey Furry -- I saw the sticky and the preceding one on the last (?) firmware upgrade, v1.06 Build B01 Beta 02, which I hope is still applicable to NA hardware version A1 (?), but whose link is not defunct.

I love this router; but how stupid is it, in your judgement, to keep using one that's past its EOL?  (It appears hard to obtain long-range single-band routers any more.)  Thanks in advance for any elaboration!

I corrected the link in the v1.06 FW update post in this forum. It's still available.

Yes you can use it if you want too. You could disable it's wifi and install a LAN to LAN wireless upgrade. The DIR882 has good wifi range. Most routers are dual or tri band routers now days. COVR is D-Links MESH system. The COVR3902 was pretty good.

I actually have the DIR-645 setup as a back up router for when the power goes out. It and the ISP modem are on a UPS.
