Working with another user, and with other model DIR series routers, it seems that DLink maybe using this 192.168.7.1 has there default static Guest Zone IP address thus making this address unavailable for any custom user use. It's recommended that if a user needs this IP address string, try to avoid using it.

There maybe a user modification that could change this by doing a FW modification. This modification is not supported by D-Link and could void the warranty or even brick the router. Avoid this if possible. Ask questions first.

2) Are the drives >2TB also supported by USB port in DIR-645 and DIR-657?

I was just playing around with the very old DIR-645. My idea was to use the USB connector with an external USB as a backup target. Yes, its slow and very old but why not?

I found out that even an 3 Terrabyte Harddisk with USB 3.0 can be connected to the old USB 2.0 connector of the DIR-645. (Firmware 1.06) Access from a Synology DIskstation or Windows works fine.

The only thing is that NTFS or FAT must be used! exFat is not supported!

Nice, ya I still use mine as a emergency wifi router when power goes out and I have my cable modem and the 645 on a UPS. Lasts for about 30 minutes but it works. Good to know that the 645 can do somethings.
