Title: Installing DCS-942L using the mydlink app - Random password assigned
Post by: GreenBay42 on January 29, 2018, 10:47:26 AM
After installing a DCS-942L (RevA3 with latest firmware) using the new mydlink app (not mydlink lite) I encountered an issue.

I installed the camera fine but when I logged into the web UI, the default password was not working. I went back into the mydlink app and noticed it assigned the camera a random password. I am sure they do this for security reasons.

To get the password:
- Log into the mydlink app and select the 942L.
- Tap the gear icon in upper right.
- Scroll down to Password and tap it
- This will display the username and password. Enter this password (case-sensitive) into the web UI. There you can change the password for the camera (Maintenance > Admin).

Not sure if this happens with older cameras if doing a fresh install. We will find out...
