Connecting / configuring 1522 to DIR-825 as bridge - ISSUES
« on: October 22, 2009, 07:49:37 AM »

Hi,

i'm trying to connect my 1522 to my 825 in bridge mode for usage with my AV equipment.

Details -

I'm running fw version 1.21 on the 1522
I've tried the wireless setup wizard, it didn't work
i tried wps setup from 825, it didn't work
    "Adding wireless device: Session Time-Out."

what i want to accomplish is to set the 1522 to bridge mode, set it to n band only with wpa2-aes encryption, and move on.

is there any way to do this manually outside of the wizard or wps?

HELP!!!

more information -

after configuration with the wizard, the bridge is partially configured but cannot connect to the AP. here is what it says:

Wireless Lan
Wireless Radio :     Enabled
Status :     disconnected
MAC Address :     xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Network Name(SSID) :     wireless1
Channel :     1
Security Type :     Open / Disabled
Wi-Fi Protected Setup :    Enabled / Configured

---

this tells me that the wizard is not working as advertised to perform the necessary configuration

final tidbits -

I've tried this with the switch in the auto position, and the bridge position. as close as i can tell, it makes no difference.

I've tried this with an ethernet cable connect to the 1522 and wirelessly, neither work.

i tried that 1st, i only tried wps as a last resort.

i'm on the phone with tech support right now, for some reason the wireless network settings are missing on the setup tab.

i was using firefox 3, which was part of the problem. once i went to ie, then i can at least see the settings tab.

several other interesting points.

in my setup, setting the 1522 to bridge mode doesn't work (AT ALL). it has to be set in auto mode.

you cannot access the 1522 wirelessly, it has to be connected into the pc or switch. that REALLY sucks.

you cannot set the 1522 to only run on the n band only, it runs on all bands, that is not optimal for me either.

Hmmm, I wonder if something else is wrong because I have 2 DAP-1522 fw 1.21 running with a DIR-825 with no issues at all.

I have the DAPs switched to Bridge Mode, I can access them wirelessly no problem, and I have tried N-only and G/N only.  I do not use WPS as that is a pain in the ...

i assume you have the switch on the back set to bridge not auto, right?

if so, can you tell me what SW settings you have for the bridge? also did you have to set up anything special on the AP side?

p.s. when i set to bridge only mode, the bridge LED never comes on. when i set to auto, it comes on solid (not blinking until i add a LAN connection to it)

do you have it set to static , or dhcp . I have had no trouble setting it in bridge mode running n only .
look at this page  and play with settings http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dap1522/
go to setup page http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dap1522/100/bridge/bsc_lan.htm

LAN CON TYP  statIc ip
AP IP AD    192.168.0.50
                  255.255.255.0
 default gat  192.168.1.???
should be your router addresss

then go to wireless page and put your settings , SAVE  .
ook on status page see if connected
