if you use the reset button, you'll loose the configuration of the DNS and the PW should be set to blank. No data on the drives will be deleted.

Configuration is any user accounts that were setup and application plug ins and networking configurations that were set up on the DNS after it was installed. A save configuration to file should have been performed for back up, so when you do a factory reset, you can go in and restore the configuration from file with out having to manually set up everything again.

Hi Phil,

Can your new admin log in to the webUI of your DNS-323 or is that the admin password you need?
If you can't log in then there is no way that you can make a copy of the accounts configuration.  If you can log in but are unable to make account changes then just copy those settings to enable a quick restore after the reset.

All the reset does is remove any user settings and you will have to remake them It does not change or remove any data that you have on the disk/s
