Title: Do Any Versions of SharePort for Mac Actually Work with This Router?
Post by: Haravikk on November 22, 2013, 04:17:17 AM
I've tried various different SharePort and SharePort Plus versions with my EU DIR-655 (hardware revision A3, firmware 1.31EU) but I just can't get it to work properly.

The only software version that will connect to my router is SharePort v1.11, and although it recognises my printer, connecting to it doesn't do anything; my computer doesn't recognise a printer as being attached.

People seem to be able to get non-EU DIR-655 routers to work with SharePort Plus, so why is the EU version seemingly given a joke version of SharePort as a "feature"? I've tried several times to get it to work and each time just given up because I can never get any further with it, always resorting instead to hooking the printer up to the nearest computer and having to switch it on whenever I need to print something, usually carrying the files on a USB stick or sending over the network, because these methods actually work.

Another suggestion might be to use a USB to network print server option instead of using SP. Print server units are much easier to work with and you can print to it anytime.

Check out a DPR series on your regional D-Link support site for more information.

Have you tried using v4 SP version on your Rev A router?
