Hi,

I am trying to set up DNS-320L and I am having troubles logging in to the ShareCenter WebUI (192.168.1.11).
I have tried setting it up using the Wizard from the CD that came with the DNS (using Windows) and also by downloading the wizard from the website (using Mac).
I have tried different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari), tried clearing cache and disabling Addblock.
I cannot upgrade the firmware, because I cannot even log in properly ;/

I would appreciate any kind of help.

• What Hardware version is your DNS? Look at the sticker behind or under the device.
• Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DNSs web page under status.
• What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
The DNS defaults to a 192.168.0.# address I believe.
Is the DNS getting a Dynamic IP address from the main host router? Look at the routers DHCP client table and see what IP address the DNS is actually getting.
 I recommend using a Static IP address ON the DNS set to 192.168.#.32 or .20.

I just tried running the wizard again in different apartment (with obviously different network) and it works... the question is why? ;-) or what can I do to investigate the issue? I will try again at the desired place tomorrow but not sure where to look, or what could be the problem ;// any suggestions?

right now (at the place where it works) I can see the router's table and the DNS's IP is actually the one I'm using (192.168.0.106). I guess I will check that in the other place tomorrow. And if it isn't? What will I be able to try?

Then 192.168.0.106 should be accessible. I presume at this place, the router is using 192.168.0.### as the IP address pool.

If the DSL modem is using 1.### then you could try this. Set a static IP address on your PC for 192.168.0.49 and subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Can leave gateway empty. Then directly connect to the DNS with a LAN cable. I want to say that the default IP address for a new DNS is 192.168.0.32. Look at the user manual to see if it lists a default IP address, then connect to it there. If you can gain access to the DNS, then change the DNS networking from 192.168.0.### to 192.168.1.20. Filling the same subnet mask and gateway that you get from the modem as well. DNS addresses can be either the modems 192.168.1.1 address or default ISP DNS addresses. This will fit in with what your modem is using on its IP address pool. Save settings, then disconnect the PC from the DNS and connect the DNS back with the modem. Change your PC networking settings from static back to Auto Obtain IP addressing and reconnect with your modem. You should be able to access the DNS now at 192.168.0.20.

Or you can change the modems default IP address pool from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1. Then restart the DNS and your PC and ALL other devices so that the new .0.### pool can be used.

Seems odd that the DNS isn't detecting the .1.### though from the modem.

If you are using windows on your computer you can use Netscan by SoftPerfect http://www.softperfect.com/products/networkscanner/ it is a free program that will find all devices on your network and tell you what their IP addresses are.

From your description it sounds as if your router is using 192.168.1.xxx for its DHCP range.  By default the NAS uses 192.168.0.32 as its IP address (the .1 and .0 subnets will never see each other).

One thing you need to do is check that your NAS will get its IP address from the DHCP server.  That way it does not matter which router you use (you just have to find the IP address and Netscan will do that for you).

There is another posibility, the one FurryNutz pointed out, change the default .1 subnet on your router to the .0 subnet  (just why D-Link use two subnets on their devices is beyond me, you would think they would want their units to be able to work together).

unfortunately it is still not working...

I run the wizard as well and checked the router IP table and it's all set to the same IP now (192.168.1.11), but Im still getting the errors and the webUI is not loading.

Also, right now Im using my mac and cannot connect the DNS directly to my laptop (I dont have my adapter on me)

Can you change your routers IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1 then try? You'll need to fully reboot the router and ALL connected devices to gain the new IP address pool string.
