Title: Push Notificatins Stopped IOS App
Post by: DaDDz on July 30, 2017, 09:31:41 AM
Once again push notifications have stopped on the IOS app.  I have motion sensing setup on two 5010l's and usually they work flawlessly.  But a number of times they both stop.  Email notifications continue.  To resolve it I call into Support (Canada), report it, they say there are not aware of any problems, take the info and say they will look into it.  I have to call back and get it bumped up the chain, then get we know about it and working on it.  Still no resolution, been a week.

There was a scheduled maintenance period the other day:
Notice: Scheduled Maintenance
The mydlink portal will undergo the server maintenance from July 26 11:00PM to July 27 05:00AM (UTC-7). The mydlink portal and mydlink apps may be temporarily unavailable during this period. If your device still remains offline after server maintenance, please try to reboot your device by unplugging and plugging the power supply. We apologize for any inconvenience."

You might reboot everything and test.

I've rebooted, unplugged, restarted iphone, rebooted router numerous times and nothing.  This is obviously a server side issue caused by that July 26 maintenance as that's exactly when the cameras stopped sending notifications.  Checked back with support today and they still have no answer?

Email still works but phone notifications have stopped?  I haven't seen any issues but I am using Android.

What version iOS and what version is the mydlink app?

I will forward this to support and see if they have seen this issue.

I talked to a tech (US office). He has iOS 10.3.3 with latest mydlink app (3.8.0). He is receiving notifications with his cameras using 3g/4g (T-Mobile) and via Wi-Fi (remotely and locally). Not sure if this is a regional problem or specific camera model issue but he will look into it.

I'm waiting for a callback from their network engineers, it was bumped up the chain to them.  In Canada they're pretty good about calling you to get more info or test something.  Although this one has been going on a week.  Not the first time push notifications got messed up with a server issue, but the longest it's been out.

Update:  I enabled motion detection on my other cameras 5020l and 5222l and push notifications are also not being sent on motion.  So that's the 5010l, 5020l and 5222l not working which looks to be a server issue and/or region Canada? issue.  Are IOS push notifications down on all cameras?

I presume the entire maintenance thing could have been regionally done. D-Link USA is aware of issues in this region. Please keep in contact with support in Canada as well. Could be effecting all cameras or just a regional service issue.

D-Link tested a 5010L yesterday and was not receiving notifications either. They did send the issue to the mydlink people. I have a 930L, 936L, 960L, 8000LH, 2530L, and 2630L and notifications are working fine so it must be affecting certain camera and/or regions.

I had 10.3.2 on it when in it started July 26, but have since updated to 10.3.3.  So ios version is not a factor.

Checked back with support (Canada) today.  Added the 5020l and 5222l to the push issue.  Network people are still working on it.  Does appear to be regional rather than camera specific.  A senior tech engineer will be in touch with me today hopefully?

Yes, I'm seeing this problem on all of my 9 series cameras as well. D-Link USA is aware of it and working on it.

It's been two weeks now since the cameras stop sending notifications.  No info from D-link.  Anyone here anything?

I fixed my issue. I noticed push notifications were not saving. I would check the cameras and back out. When I go back in, they are all unchecked. I just reinstalled the app and it is working fine now.

D-Link is aware and working on it.

I tried to fix with re-installing app, re-flashed firmware and no go.  Are you saying your problem on Android was unrelated and D-link was still working on the ios problem?  I called support and they said they thought it was fixed but work get back to me today.  Getting frustrating as these cameras were really dependable for the most part all the time, but now they are useless to me in their current setup monitoring motion at the front and rear of my home.
I need an answer re if it's not going to be fixed.

If the cameras had been working with the service and now they are not. I presume the problem will be fixable and will take some time for D-Link to review the situation and make the necessary fixes, test then push them out to the areas needed. Patience is needed here as D-Link is working on it.

Thank you.

Correct. The Android issue I had was with my phone, not D-Link.

mydlink did perform a server update today. It sometimes can take several hours to replicate to all the servers globally. Give it a day and just reboot your cameras so they reconnect to the servers. If the problem is still there with your model cameras, let us know and let Canada support know too. I will let US support know and they can test again.

Rebooted all cameras 5010l, 5020l, 5222l and none send push notifications.  Called support and they say they tested the 5010l and it should be working, but they might have to do more testing.  Will get back to me. I've done all I can do on my end.  Tested on 3 different cameras, on iphone 5s, 6s and ios 10.3.3 and 10.3.2.  Rebooted, powered off, reinstalled ios app, turned notifications off/on, rebooted phones.  There was a notice for server update Aug7/8, so I waited for that to complete before testing.  Now I see a new notice for a server update Aug 9/10.  I'm told US and Canada use different servers but updates are pushed to all servers.  Anyone with the issue get notifications going again in either US or Canada?

Hopefully tonight's mydlink update will fix this issue. Thanks for being patient. I know it is frustrating.

I will ask the US techs to test the 5010 and 5020 today too.

Second level support called me tonight.  He said he tested a number of different model cameras today and push notifications were not working on any of them, using the IOS app.  Andriod app is working properly.  He wasn't sure what the update being pushed to the servers tonight was doing, but would test the cameras again tomorrow after the maintenance.  He suspected something in the July 26 server update broke the IOS app push notifications.  He will be talking to the server people.  Will call me back when he has more info/solution.

Push notifications started on my 5020l yesterday for about 4 hours, then stopped.  5010l and 5222l nothing.  Still no word back from support.
I've got a new 2670l arriving today.  Hoping there's a resolution to this and I don't have to look to alternatives.

USA tested 5010L - Failed, and the 5020L - success. They sent a d-track to Taiwan yesterday, as I assume Canada did too.

Assumed it was a test, being so specific.  Other odd thing today was a number of Record by Motion Detection E-mails showed up from earlier today, hours ago and yesterday.  I've been getting them all along within seconds through this which is normal.  Appeared to be random and totaled around 7-8.  I'll assume it was related to testing unless it continues.

Push notifications were back on both my 5010l and 5020l this morning, so something is fixed.  But they stopped again a few hours after so I'm assuming it was a test.  Will give them a call and see the status.  Am I the only ios user using push notifications?

Looking more closely I could see notifications varied depending on iphone ios.  I have an old iphone 5s with ios 10.3 and it has been working most of the day although a bit erraticly. Iphone 6s with ios 10.3.3 worked for the few hours this morning, but nothing since then.  Called it in to support but unable to get to a level 2.  They'll call back.

I will ask around today for any updates with this. iOS has released several security updates in the last few months. I am sure it is related to mydlink Lite app issues. Android hasn't been affected so I know it isn't just a mydlink back-end problem.

My old iphone 5s ios 10.3 (from March I think) has been getting push notifications consistently for the past 24 hours.  Just using it as a test unit, as I only use it for music streaming.  The 6s with ios 10.3.3 worked for two hours intermittently yesterday.  Made two calls to support here in the past day to update them.  Today they seemed to think it had been resolved until I said 10.3.3 is still not working.  Said they will test that version today and call me back.  I would have thought 10.3.3 would have been the obvious test as it's current?  I've been patient but I'm about at the end.  Been three weeks and if it's that not enough cameras are in use this way, at least with iphones, to make it a priority, I need to know so I can move on.  I have the 2670l sitting here which I'll have to return.  It was a good setup the 2-3 years, issues quickly resolved, but it seems something lacking now.

Push notification issue appears to be resolved with fix applied to servers.  Took a while for the iphone 6s with 10.3.3 to start but they have been working properly so far since late yesterday.  Thanks to all you worked on this.

They did something to the server last night. Support in US (2 techs) tested their 5010Ls with iOS 10.3.3 and they are getting notifications.

Glad it is finally working for you. Thanks for your patience.
