Adhoc mode between DWA556 and DWA140 only at 54Mbps
« on: June 19, 2008, 12:42:37 PM »

Hi,

I can't get better than 54Mbps rate between my laptop with DW140 and PC with DWA556, running in Adhoc mode, both on XP.

Is 802.11n support in Adhoc mode between these two devices?  If so, what do I need to configure to get it going.

I also can't fine updated drivers for the DWA140 on this site.

Thx

The DWA 140 is fairly new to the market, I don't believe there has been sufficient time since its release for newer drivers to be written. As far as support in Ad hoc for Draft Extreme N, I will have to look further into that and get back to you. At this time I want to say no its not possible but I am not 100% certain of that.

Maybe there is a way for a faster connection, if you use, for the DWA140, the latest RaLink drivers and the RaLink windows utility, you can run the DWA140 as an access-point an then the speed will be up to par.
[edit] If I make an Adhoc connection from DWA140 to DWA140 I can get 130Mbps max, I had to adjust a driver setting called adhoc wireless n support from disabled to enabled.
So Adhoc speeds of 130Mbps and if I run one as an access-point the full 300Mbps.
