Configuring Trunk in DES-3852 L3 Switch
« on: April 12, 2010, 01:59:03 AM »

Hi,

I have a L3 D-Link switch DES3852 which is connected to DES1252. Now i need to make some changes is my network. I have created 3 VLANS in 3852 and did intervlan routing between them. Also i have created the same 3VLANS in 1252. Now i want to connect these vlans to 3852 vlans via trunk. Will u please someone guide me how to configure trunk port on 3852 to carry vlan information between switches. Is it possible to do this?

Thanks.

Config a port that is untagged on the default VLAN and tagged on all other VLANs, do this on both switches.

Be very careful that you manually specified the VID tag on both switches and that it is the same.  The VLAN name is not important, but the VID is vital.
