DWA182 C revision on Windows 10 , can only get 802.11a
« on: May 15, 2016, 07:52:49 PM »

Hi, this is my first time buying dlink dongle

i have DIR-850L on WirelessAC mode, when i tried connecting to 5Ghz AP, I can only get 802.11a connection using latest driver (Driver (3.06.B04 Win  02/19/16)

http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DWA-182

I even tried to force 802.11ac mode of the dongle, via device manager, still getting 802.11a connection

any idea on how to get 802.11ac , using DWA182, on Windows 10?

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Try single mode N on 5Ghz and try single mode AC if it has this option.
Be sure to set WPA2/AES only. Try disabling WPA mode and see what modes the 182 connects at.

Interesting to not see N listed.

B and G modes are only supported on 2.4Ghz and A was supported on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz however was dropped from 2.4Ghz a while back.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Ya I know...
So if you set AC mode only on the main host router, does the adapter connect?

So even though you set up AC mode only on the main host router, the adapter still connected?
Can you determine which mode the adapter connected to?
