Hi! My first post! :)
I bought my self a DCS-2230 and love the resolution and easyniess, but it's flooding my NAS with files named like this: "evt_20121027_160043003.log" containing this text: "Event : Motion detected
"
The DCS is recording to my NAS (DNS-323) and its working well but per recorded file it floods my folder with 5 or 9 log files! What have gone wrong?!

Have you updated the firmware to latest one (1.10)?
I forced the DCS-2230 to write a log file onto NAS, choosing "Log" inside "Event" window. So if you don't want the log file, simply uncheck the option "Log" inside the Event options.

I've the latest FW1.10 ... And were did you find the "Log" option in Events window? There is no option called "Log" in my "Events" .
EDIT: Anyone else having these event log files created?
-
Hum.. nearly 300 views but only 1 has replied.. :(
Anyhow, did some testing and found out that if you set the value to 0 sec for "Delay for X seconds before detecting next event [For motion detection and digital input and Passive Infrared sensor" in the EVENT settings it floods you with event logs... But IF you set it to 18sec (the amount of time your recordings lasts) there will be no event log files written!
Think i might found a bug here as there is no place in EVENT set up page where you can set it to write a .log file ..

Thanks for the info Minglarn, very useful! :)

very useful, I have just bought and installed a DCS-6010L and I am surprised this log issue has not been fixed (i would love to see a checkbox to disable the sending/writting of these log files). Thx

For what it's worth, I have a DCS-2230 that's doing the same thing to me via e-mail. I do have the delay before re-trigger set to 1 second, which should be adequate. For every e-mail that contains snapshots, I get five that have one-line .log files attached. Pretty irritating. I'm using firmware 1.20.
I was able to block the .log files in my mail client by using Apple Mail's rules feature, where I can delete any messages whose attachments have .log in the name. No idea why I'm getting these in the first place, though, and I can't see in the configuration text where it might be set up.

I was researching this same issue and found this post.
Definitely would like to see an option to disable all .log file from being sent as email attachements!
-
I had the same issue and received the same suggestion from D-Link support. Basically, if you set the retrigger interval less than the length of the recording (or number of 1-second snapshots), you'll get those emails.

Face the same problem with my DCS-2310L. My solution is by creating a filter in the email to delete those event log emails

Yeah... many thanks for this info.
Setting the time delay to the same as my recording time solved my problem of multiple evt.logs
Does anyone know how to also disable the .jpg file that accompanies every .avi file written to the SD card. I can't find anywhere that I have requested a .jpg on motion detection.
Thanks

it's flooding my ftp server.......
is there an option to disable it? maybe by sysenv.dat?

I don't think it's possible to disable that.
