DAP-1155 problem
« on: August 06, 2013, 09:19:40 PM »

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, so apologies if it isn't.

I bought a DAP-1155 (hardware version A1, Firmware 1.01) three days ago and have been having a constant problem with it.

It is configured as a bridge and the problem that I am having with it is that it randomly loses the wireless connection with the wireless router. The LAN connection continues to work fine. When the problem occurs, if I log onto the DAP-1155 and open the 'Site Survey" window it detects no wireless networks. Normally it detects 8 wireless networks.

After a re-boot, it works fine again until it randomly drops the wireless network connection (usually at least once an hour, sometimes two to three times).

Everything on the network has a static address and I have verified that the other wireless routers that are within range are on a different channel to the one on my network, so as to not cause any interference.

I have tried different channels and changing the mode to 802.11n only. Also verified that there are no sources of interference near the DAP-1155, to no avail. I'm starting to think that I bought a faulty unit.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I could try to correct this problem, or should I just return it?

Link>Welcome!
  • What Hardware version is your DAP? Look at sticker under DAP.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DAPs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What is the distance between the DAP and the main host router?

Wireless Configurations
Links>Wireless Installation Considerations and Managing Signal Congestion
  • What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?
  • 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N on 5Ghz?
  • Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
  • Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
  • What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
  • Any cordless house phones?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
  • If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, HT 20/40 Co-exhistance and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Recommended settings are default.
  • Enable WMM Enable.

What is the distance between the DAP and the main host router?

Thanks for the reply.

Not sure of the equivalent distance, since it is a level below and that there are many obstructions. It indicates that the signal strength is 60%.

In any case the problem is solved. I replaced it and the replacement is working fine.   :)
