DGL-4500 w/Linksys WGA600n connections issues with 1.12
« on: August 14, 2008, 01:24:43 PM »

I’ve spent the last 3days looking on anything to help me with the problem I have.
I’ve been using the dgl-4500/wga600n in 5GHz for about 6months now with no connection issues until I upgraded to 1.12 from 1.02(dgl-4500). The wga600n is connected to a PS2 w/hdd so I can play FFXI (mmo) wireless. I’ve rebooted the router 6x and still no success (will not let the ps2 connect online). I then switched out the DGL-4500 with an older netgear router I have and I was able to connect with no problems.
I’ve been turning features on/off opening ports under gaming…still no luck. Is there anything I could do/try so I can get back to how I used to play before I installed fw1.12?
Now I see that Lycan commented under an fw1.12 thread that “ALL CODE POSTED TO THE FORUMS IS BETA. Final releases will go through the support site.” I did get the fw from the support site but is fw1.12 a beta fw?

Version 1.12 is a supported version.  I looked at the ftp site and 1.11 beta isn't there anymore.  Maybe you could find 1.11 beta and give that a try.

Have you used the WGA600N on a laptop?  How was performance?  Have you tried any other adapters on 5GHz?

I've had issues with disconnects and lack of network response with different versions of the DWA-160 and looking for other 5GHz alternatives.

Although, this would not ready address the issue as to why it isn't working now...You could try to put the IP address of the WGA600n in the DMZ (Advanced/Firewall).  This should completely bypass any filtering of the router.

Rather than just power cycling the router have you tried using the reset button to clear it out and start over?

no luck with trying the DMZ feature. when i hook it up to a PC it "seems" to work fine with basic web browsing. yet nothing with the PS2 which it worked with fine before 1.12. I'm starting to think this is a case of having a different company for the router and ethernet adapter.  :-\  they did work fine together for 6months...oh well

Have you tried doing resets on both devices and starting over setting them up?

Took some time because of it being on backorder but i finally got a dap-1522 to go with the dgl-4500. Thinking it would fix my problem with me using another vendors product...i was very wrong. It still does the samething.

After trying the new 1.13b i'm still having the same problems. I also notice since fw 1.12 i lag more on PSN and no longer get "host" like before. They gave the usb more features but other than that 1.13b does me no good.

All i want is the router i had before fw 1.12 put the steel boots on it. PLEASE, tell me a fix of some kind is coming soon, as a gamer this thing is killing me having to use my 4yr old router when i have a dgl-4500 in a box.

We've made contact with Sony and are working with them to isolate this issue. I'll try to get an answer soon.
