Latency problems with dap 1360
« on: March 26, 2019, 12:56:13 PM »

Hello, I'm from Chile and I bought this router because I need a Wi-Fi signal at home, I have configured this router in access point mode, being close to the router I do not have any problem, but when I change to another room the latency goes up the clouds being impossible to stabilize. Any solution / settings to avoid this problem?
- Firmware: 6.07
- Distance from the router to the modem: <1 meter
- I have tried with auto channel and with fixed channel (5 best according to wifianalyzer, 6 1 or 11)

As I said above, this problem is when I get away from the router that this destabilization occurs.
Stay tuned to your comments.
Thank you

Welcome!

The DAP is not a router, it's a extender or AP.

"Distance from the router to the modem: <1 meter" Is this the distance between the modem and DAP? if so, then this is too close. Distance between the DAP and main host router/modem should start at 30 feet.

  • What ISP Modem/Router Mfr. and model # do you have?
Is the WiFi enabled on the modem or disabled?

Hello, I have 50 mbps fiber optic service, the modem is "zhone 2426" brand like the one in the picture.

The reason why I decided to buy the dap is because the WiFi signal of the modem has latency problems to play video games, I requested to change the modem but the same problems still exist. I understand that the best way for these cases is to connect by network cable directly between PC and modem, in fact I do not have latency problems with a connected network cable, but in my home it is not feasible to put a cable from the place where the modem is located up to my room.
The WiFi signal of the modem is on and it is not possible to turn it off because the access to the modem configuration is blocked.
My ISP provider is "telsur"

Regards!

If the wifi on the modem is on then this is probably the main cause. Having the modems WiFi enabled along with the DAPs wifi and in close proximity will be problematic. The wifi on the modem needs to be disabled fully.

Hello, I requested to disable the Wi-Fi but they told me that they can not do that because of the regulations of the company. Thanks for the help.

Finally I asked to disable the Wi Fi modem and they did, I still have the same problem of increased latency but to a lesser extent than when Wi-Fi was activated. What will be the real problem?
