Need help with the router
« on: November 19, 2010, 05:35:00 AM »

Hi.

I got the DIR-655 router in august, and have always had a problem but it has starting to get worse the last weeks.

Now and then (more often now, at least 5-6 times the last hour) the network loose the internetconnection. I've tried to upgrade the firmware, but it says its up to date (Current Firmware Date :2010/01/14).
When I get disconnected it only lasts for about 1min.

I'm using a HP Pavilion Entertainment laptop, that I bought the same time i got the router so it's very new. My friend with a laptop+PC is having issues too, but we don't get disconnected at the same time.

Anyone knows what the problem might be?  ???

I'm having the same issue.  It seems to be random but I notice it when I'm browsing the net or on Xbox Live.  I get intermittent disconnects and when I check the logs.

Status Page:
Confirms that connection up time is like 1 min - 30 seconds.... (How long it takes me to get back to my main pc and log into the router.)

When checking the log I see this type of message:
[INFO]   Fri Nov 19 07:07:57 2010   Time synchronized
[INFO]   Fri Nov 19 07:07:57 2010   Requesting time from 61.67.210.241
[INFO]   Fri Nov 19 07:07:57 2010   Time server ntp1.dlink.com is at IP address 61.67.210.241
[INFO]   Fri Nov 19 07:07:41 2010   Dropped packet from [My WAN IP] (IP protocol 17) as unable to create new session
[INFO]   Fri Nov 19 07:07:41 2010   WAN interface speed measurement completed. Upstream speed is 463 kbps
[INFO]   Fri Nov 19 07:07:20 2010   Estimating speed of WAN interface

[INFO]   Fri Nov 19 07:07:16 2010   Lost lease on IP Address

This is very frustrating.... I upgraded last night to the latest 1.34NA Firmware and I have DI-655 FW Rev: A4

I also have my internet connection to 'Always On' - This problem just started occurring last week.

I don't know if this relates but because I didn't change any settings to my hardware, or software and this started occurring just recently.  I notice entries in my log like this:

[INFO]   Fri Nov 19 09:35:15 2010   Blocked incoming TCP packet from 218.92.13.158:3389 to [My WAN IP]:35640 as SYN:ACK received but there is no active connection
[INFO]   Fri Nov 19 09:30:40 2010   Blocked incoming TCP connection request from 81.10.28.114:50950 to [My WAN IP]:445

When I whois those IP addresses I get: (WTF.... are these chinese hackers ... and can they cause my connection to drop?)

Hi morty87,

What is the Hardware Revision of your Router?

Are you using Static or Dynamic IP Addresses from the Router?

If you are using Dynamic IP Addresses, have you checked the Lease time?

Also, do you have a Cordless Phone Base near the Router?

Hi!
I have the firmware version 1.31EU,  2010/01/14, and it says it has the latest update.
Where can I check if I'm using static/dynamic IP adress? And the lease time?

I don't got a phone nearby!

Hi morty87,

http://192.168.0.1/Basic/Network.shtml

Everything that you mentioned is on that page, once you are signed in.

Either go to the latest version of the firmware or back to version 1.21, which is real stable.

Do you have Cordless phones in the house?
