I will start with my setup. I have a Dlink DIR 655 Router with the lastest firmware(1.34NA). I have a desktop computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit, I also have a Laptop running the same Windows 7. I stream media to both my Xbox360 and to my laptop from my desktop. I have been doing this with no problems for years but lately when I stream media it will stop and disconnect, then I look at my desktop and it is disconnected from the network and I have to troubleshoot it to reconnect it. I have even done it while playing games on the laptop. Streaming to the Xbox360 will disconnect the desktop yet my gaming on the laptop will be unaffected and still connected. If I am not streaming any media then my desktop never disconnects. I can even FTP files without disconnecting.

I use The Standard Xbox360 Streaming for the xbox and XBMC or homegroups for the laptop and all have the same problem. I have no problems with xbox live or the internet on the laptop, only streaming.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to what the problem may be?

I have the same problem...  my computer (wireless connection) disconnects from the network when transferring any large files across the network.

I have always had exactly the same issue with streaming media from the web. It seems to only happen when i am streaming HD media though. When i watch HULU and choose HD it punts after a short time or right away every time. I am running firmware version1.21

Sounds like a potential heat issue in the effected systems. Try cleaning out the dust and see if that helps the problem.

For better cooling, you can try positioning the router upright (with the cradle that's included). This optimizes the flow of air around the device. What's you ambient temps?
