Title: FTP Issues
Post by: BigKitty10 on October 13, 2018, 10:22:39 PM
I normally consider myself well versed in technological components, but there is something about FTP that I just loath.

Nonetheless I pushed through the pain of windows firewall, and managed to setup a FTP server for my cameras. (QUICK NOTE) Those FTP shares are also shares on my SMB server.

After setting up the FTP options on the D-LINK Camera web page, I pressed the test button to test my FTP connection. After which I said "Test Ok".

But then after saving the settings and pressing the test button again, it now shows "Test Error"!!!!

I really wish this camera would allow me to use SMB shares, but whatever.

Can anyone please explain this to me as to why the camera would be able to write something to the FTP shares, save the settings, and then not be able to?!

Thank you for your time!

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
Be sure your shares are set up and configured to be able to write too.
Have you tried letting the camera record something to the FTP share?

have EXACT the same issue; I have 3 other Dlink 932 cams which work fine with my FTP server (WD Book),
but for some reason the 2670 (just bought, latest 2.00 driver/firmware) changes the password.
FI: If I set my password to 1234, save, and reload the page the password is now 10 characters long.
And also the same behavior; BEFORE saving a test is OK but when saving and test again I get an error.
The save function somehow changes the password in the browsers software.

PLEASE if you found a solution tell me because I bought this expensive cam as a surveillance cam and now
only can use the SD card function which is not safe (if camera is stolen= video gone).
I guess this has to be patched with a new firmware since I tested this with 3 different browsers with the same result.
Also changing my FTP to only username (no password) didn't work.
All other Dlink cams with the same sort like browser interface have no issues at all with the FTP.

Can someone look into this, seems not many users reported this so it could be a minor thing like browser settings or so?
ANY help to solve this would be much appreciated!
(Couldn't contact Dlink support)
Regards, Pierre

What browser are you using? Have you tried IE11, FF or Opera when doing the save function?

Europe/belgium
I used latest IE and Chrome (all other things work fine in both browsers, also video)

The thing is all other Dlinks 932 cams work flawless with the same interface

I would make contact with your regional support office about this:
https://eu.dlink.com/be/nl/support/contact

This model camera is not supported here in the USA so if there is a problem, they can't do anything about it. This needs to be addressed by your regional support office.

I tried to contact them but it seems their offices over here are down for some reason.
Since I looked up this issue and found exact the same behavior I had to response ;)

Ok, I'll pass this on to D-Link here and see if they can make contact there.

Thank You! Is this also for the Europe version? I don't want to f*ck things up ;)
The filename has an A1 in it, mine is a B version so that could be different?

And I'm onto something; I could manage to save video's on my FTP but the MEDIA should be set to
only 5MB, the max setting is 50MB (50.000) but is only for SD card recording.
And that's a real turndown if you record to a FTP drive and it's chopped in tiny pieces.
I hope to find another way but as good as the cam is as bad is the software from the dark ages... :(

So if people have issues writing video to FTP; make another MEDIA which is limited to 5000 bytes (5MB),
it wasn't the password what messed up, it was the MEDIA setting. The TEST option writes a txt file to the FTP
drive so that was a tiny file but the settings at max in the MEDIA wasn't allowed to write to SMB / FTP.

Hope this helps others :)

it is a "world wide" firmware so it should work with the camera from all regions.

What revision do you have? Generally A1 means all rev A.
Title: Re: FTP Issues
Post by: PierreBe on December 21, 2018, 08:32:29 AM
yeah that's what I'm afraid for that the beta is for A and not for a revision B like mine...
Title: Re: FTP Issues
Post by: GreenBay42 on December 21, 2018, 08:58:13 AM
You have revision B? Hmmm I do not see any firmware for rev B other than 2.00.

I looked at the D-Track where I got this firmware from. I am guessing that the firmware is for rev B since it is 2.xx.xx.  Rev A has firmware 1.10 as the latest. The DTrack listed it as a rev A1 but not sure if that is correct. Unfortunately the DTrack agents are in Taiwan so I will not hear back until next week. I will email the tech in Canada who submitted this ticket.

If you try to install the firmware, you will get an error if it is for a different revision. You can always crash recover the camera if something does happen but it is hard to put the wrong firmware on D-Link products.

OK, thx for your support, will give it a try tomorrow and let you know how that went :)

Is there a method and how to go back to the previous FW in case it didn't work out?
Title: Re: FTP Issues
Post by: GreenBay42 on December 21, 2018, 09:03:12 AM
Dont install it yet.

but normally if the firmware does take, you should be able to downgrade the firmware (upgrade to an older file).

Firmware versions 2.xx.xx are for revision B so you should be OK installing this beta firmware.

(fingers crossed)

Any change to see what's new in it?

i am not sure what changes since this camera is not sold in the US. The beta is to fix FTP connectivity and FTP password issues. No release notes were included.
Title: Re: FTP Issues
Post by: PierreBe on December 21, 2018, 10:17:33 AM
I can confirm this.
Like I stated before you shouldn't set files bigger then 5000 bytes for FTP upload or it fails,
testing with this beta I've seen that even if you put 50.000 as a value it will be changed to 5.000
automatically so the issue with the FTP is over :) :) :)

Again THANK YOU VERY MUCH for pointing me to this update, even if I already found out what the issue was :)
Great support!

Glad it worked and you confirmed the issue/limitation. You may want to still contact support in your area and see if an increase in file size will be possible. it is a possible limitation of the chipset/memory.
Title: Re: FTP Issues
Post by: PierreBe on December 21, 2018, 10:35:04 AM
Thx FurryNutz :)

GreenBay42; yes I could ask them, curious as I am just to know why.
Those 5MB files are so small that they are almost useless.
It could be it's for traffic or limitations on the SMB side, but I have a
Eminent cam which can record to the same FTP drive continuously, so...

At least they should provide a program to stitch them together ;)

I can confirm it comes back online, I have not yet tested the rest

-- EDIT --

I can confirm the FTP does work now! Going to update/upgrade the others cams too :)

-- EDIT --

Sadly enough, only the first cam is working as it should be, the other 2 don't actually write to FTP

-- EDIT --

It looks like there is a limitation on the length of the account name for the ftp

If I switch the frontdoor(voordeur) cam to the garden (tuin) it does work...

The camera_oprit and camera_voordeur don't work, the camera_tuin does work, the strangest thing of all is that on all accounts the IPCamTestFile.txt file is set

Hi all,

I had the same issue with 2670L, bought in Poland a month ago.
Basiclly, FTP connection is still not working even after installing BETA FW (DCS-2670L_A1_FW_V2.01.03(1030103739).bin).
Same connection is working well on another DCS-5222LB without issues.

Changing password didn't help. Always "Test Error."

BR,
Robert

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this.
Link> Tech Support Contact Information (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?board=635.0)
We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

I have exactly the same issue, except my hardware version is A and not B. Is there a beta firmware I can try that will resolve this FTP issue? I have contacted DLink technical support, and so far there has been no answer from them. I am from Malaysia BTW - I know this is a USA only forum but I have no recourse but to come here for a solution since other users here are experiencing the same issues.
Any help appreciated. TIA.
