Title: DCS Network Cameras - Wirelessly Connect a Network Camera and Router Using WPS

Connecting a D-Link network camera to a router can be simplified by using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) protocol described in this FAQ.

WPS Procedure

• Press and hold the WPS button on the rear of the DCS network camera for three seconds (The WPS button location may vary on different D-Link network camera models)
• The blue WPS status LED above the button will start blinking for 60 seconds
• Press the WPS button on the router within 60 seconds. The WPS button is typically located on the front or side of your router, but may vary depending on the router manufacturer and model. Some routers do not have a physical WPS button, but rather offer WPS as an option only accessible via the router web UI. -- in this case you may need to log in to the web interface to access WPS
• Once WPS is activated on the DCS network camera and router, the two devices will "handshake", and automatically create a secure wireless connection.
• During the connection process the network camera green LED will flash and the network camera will reboot.

My Router Does Not Have a WPS Option

If your router does not have a WPS option, then the network camera must be configured manually using the following procedure.

Router web UI:

• Connect the network camera to the router using a wired connection
• Log into the router web UI by entering the router IP address in a browser on a PC connected to the same LAN as the router
  
• Take note of the network camera IP address, which should be listed under the attached device table
  
• Take note of the wireless network name (SSID)
  
• Take note of the router security setting (i.e. None, WEP, or WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK) and Pre-Shared Key
  
• Make sure wireless is enabled and SSID broadcast is enabled
  

Network Camera web UI:

• Log into the network camera web UI by entering the camera IP address in a browser on a PC connected to the same LAN as the router and network camera. Note: the web UI paths and options described below may vary depending on the D-Link network camera model and firmware version
  
• Navigate to SETUP > Network Setup > LAN SETTINGS and select DHCP Connection
  
• Navigate to SETUP > Wireless Setup
  
• Copy the router wireless network name (SSID) in the network camera SSID field
  
• Copy the router security setting (i.e. None, WEP,   or WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK) in the network camera WIRELESS SECURITY MODE section
  
• Copy the router Pre-Shared Key in the network camera WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK Settings section
  
• Save the camera settings
• After disengaging the wired connection the router should pickup the network camera via wireless
