Title: IPv6 settings for DIR-880L on Comcast (Houston)
Post by: Brian_AM on February 07, 2015, 08:43:31 AM
I upgraded my cable modem from a SB6120 to a SB6183 yesterday and while I'm seeing decent speed increases, it appears I've lost IPv6 compatibility.  Prior to the swap, when I ran the speed checker at http://speedtest.comcast.net/, two two speed checks would be run, one for IPv4 and one for IPv6 showing separate results.  Also http://test-ipv6.com/ would show a 10/10 readiness score where as now I get a 0/10.  I haven't made any changes to the router settings between modem swaps.  Comcast claims the modem is provisioned for IPv6 automatically and was useless in providing even generic router settings for IPv6 for their service.  When I hook a laptop directly to the modem, the IPv6 test is run just like with the previous modem.

Here are my IPv6 settings:
My Internet Connection is:   Auto Detection
IPv6 DNS SETTINGS
DNS Type:   Obtain a DNS server address automatically
LAN IPv6 ADDRESS SETTINGS
Enable DHCP-PD:   Enabled
LAN IPv6 Link-Local Address:   fe80::6e19:8fff:fecc:a818
Advanced Settings...
ADDRESS AUTOCONFIGURATION SETTINGS
Enable Automatic IPv6 Address Assignment:   Enabled
Enable Automatic DHCP-PD in LAN:     Enabled
Autoconfiguration Type:     SLAAC+Stateless DHCP

I upgraded to the latest B13 firmware about 30 minutes ago, but this didn't effect my issue.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

IF IPv6 was working before the model swap and not it does not and you didn't change anything on the router, we can presume that there is a problem with the new modem. I recommend contacting the ISP and asking about this new modem and ensure IPv6 is supported and operating thru is. It could be faulty.

I modified my initial post, I just ran the modem directly to a laptop (eliminating the router) and the IPv6 test was run during the speed test.

I am in Houston, TX

I have not performed a factory reset and I would prefer not to lose all my settings.

Do a save router configuration to file then factory reset and set up from scratch and test.
Try setting the WAN port speed to 1000Mb...

This worked brilliantly.  I performed a factory reset, went through setup.  IPv6 is disabled by default (local connectivity only).  I changed this to Auto configuration (SLAAC/DHCPv6).  Bingo! IPv6 restored.   Thank you very much FurryNutz!
