Question about DIR-1513 - Transmit Power setting
« on: July 05, 2013, 07:11:15 AM »

First, just as previous posters, I want to appologize for using this forum to ask about this device as  I could not find a forum specific for the DIR-1513.

I own this device and it work just fine. However it seems to have a feature I could not find much documentation on.

Under Advanced > Advanced Wireless I can set "Transmit Power".

Question: does  this bridge device also operate as a repeater of the wireless network it connects to? Does it extend the reach of the network?

In my case I do not need it to operate as a repeater, so I'm wondering what would be the results of setting the transmit power down to the lowest level (it does not seem I can disable it entirely).

Thanks.

Transmit Power is the setting of High, Medium or Low. What this does if this is changed from the high setting is to reduce the broadcast foot print and range from the higher setting to a smaller foot print and reduces range if using it in AP mode. Not sure if this effects Bridge mode or not. I presume it could.

This feature can be used in this situation:
Managing Signal Congestion

Feel free to post in this forum as we don't have a specific forum for your model DAP.
