Title: Changing Modes (B/G/N)
Post by: max7238 on March 09, 2012, 09:02:58 AM
Is there any way to change this router from "N" to either "B" or "G" modes? I am confused because in my old house, my PSP connected just fine. However, after moving the connection to the router times out every time. I determined that this was because the PSP does not understand "N" signal. If at all possible, I would like to know how and where can I make this switch? Where as in: do I need to be wired to the router, or can I do it right from my computer?

Yes you should have single mode G under Setup/Wireless/Manual.

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Sorry to say that I'm here because I lost the box in moving...
As for Hard and firmware, let's assume original, since I do not remember ever upgrading it.
I have a cable ISP, with a stand alone unit that needs a router, and I believe it is a Motorola-made modem...

Glad your here man. Will try to help you out as much as we can.

The HW version can be found on the sticker underneath the router itself.

Let us know how Single mode G works for you.

Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer (http://www.metageek.net/) to find out.

Hard: A!
Firm: 1.01NA
No problem with letting ya know how it works... As soon as I can get it switched... And yes, there are other routers. Mine has a unique SSID, so no confusion there. And yesterday was the solar flare, so perhaps that may have interfered...?

Be aware that having a lot of other WiFi near by can effect the WiFi on the router.
Keep us posted.

... Keep posted on what...?
I posted this topic because I -do not know how to switch the mode-.

Exactly how do I do that? Wired to or wirelessly from the router?

*edit
Read up^
Saw where you told me, that I obviously missed... Feeling dumb now. Switched over. Internet is (obviously) working fine on the computer...

Log in to the routers web page at 192.168.0.1 and go to Setup/Wireless/Manual and change the 802.11 mode to Single mode G.

Single G is good for the computer and XBox 360. PSP, however, timed out again. Gonna try in B only, then B+G.

Router's great... It's the PSP that's the problem.

*edit
Single B is good for computer and PSP. Xbox is a no go, though. B+G next.

*Edit2
B+G is good! Connection across the board!

Thanks for the help, good sir, and go D-Link!

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) if your interested. Its safe and secure.

If yoru gaming on XBL and PS I might recommend a different model DLink router  ::)

I know this is old but have does the PSP have a firmware update that needs to be done?  I know a lot of handhelds do.  I'd look into that and then see if it fixes your bug.
