Dear all,

DNS-320L Plex Package v1.05_12232014 is not working on a DNS-320L with the latest firmware. When i try to launch the interface it just says that the page is not available.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Best regards.

What is the size of the file "DNS-320L Plex Package v1.05_12232014_UA"? Should be 68495190 bytes.

Im having the same issue with DNS-325_Plex_Package_vTransX.1_12222014 (80,699,138 bytes). Haven't tried 1.05 yet, but really wanted to test out the transcoding.

http://192.168.1.30:32400/web/
This web page is not available.

Is the default port still 32400?

EDIT: I have just installed 1.05, which seemed to work fine, but I am unable to watch anything on Plex Web now... I get "This media server does not support transcoding" for everything. I was able to watch these in Plex Web fine on 1.04. I am able to watch the same videos from Samsung TV and Xbox.

I also noticed that the settings "Direct Play", "Direct Stream", and "Allow Direct Play of AC3 Audio" are no longer available in Settings>Web>Player. I'm assuming this is related...

Edit2: I went back to 1.04 and those settings still aren't there, but I am now able to play all my videos successfully. Seems like there is an issue with the 1.05 installation; and TransX 1 still doesn't work (the web page is not available). I have installed 1.05 and TransX 1 multiple times to verify it wasnt an issue during installation, and each time it installed successfully.

Yes, it is. The new version of Plex (v0.9.11) with transcoding does not work on the base system DNS-320L/325/345. I will not go into details, but to make it work failed :(
To view a computer from Windows, use the "Plex Home Theater for Windows (https://plex.tv/downloads)"

Hello everybody,

I installed the new 1.05 on my DNS-320L replacing 1.04.
Installation was successful, but my PMS is still Version 0.9.9.14 instead of 0.9.11.4 - tried also complete deinstallation and new installation, still the same problem.
Anybody have similar problems or hints? :(

Thanks!

Hi all,

I've installed this version to my DNS320L and it works. However, when I check the Plex version number it's only 0.9.9.14.531-7eef8c6, not 0.9.11.4. My PS4 is telling me to upgrade the server to 0.9.10.1 or higher.

Any ideas? I'm going to try installing the transX version to see what happens...

Thanks,
editkid

Results of some more installing on the DNS-320L: TransX version doesn't work, 1.04 works but is Plex version 0.9.9.14, same as 1.05 package.

DNS-320L Plex Package v1.05_12232014 installed without error, however still shows  0.9.9.14 as build version.

Unfortunately the version 0.9.11.4 only works on the DNS-327L. On the DNS-320L/325/345 version 0.9.11.4 does not work properly, for this reason I had to return to 0.9.9.14

Would it be possible to get v0.9.10.1 or higher on the DNS-320L? It's the minimum server version that works with the new Plex PS4 app.

I'm a programmer myself. If there are instructions anywhere on how to make these packages I wouldn't mind trying to make one.

It is not in the source code, there is only ready-made binaries (https://plex.tv/downloads/1/archive)

Ah I see. How are they turned into a package that can be installed onto the DNS320L etc.? I assume you download a NAS package that's for a similar architecture and then... magic?  :)

Apologies for the seemingly endless questions :) but how are the extracted binaries then turned into packages for the D-Link NAS? Thank you!

I didn't pay attention to standby, it probably is. The reason is that Plex is >300MB of RAM, and DNS-320L RAM=256MB. For this reason, the connected disk swap and NAS can't go into standby. The second reason - Plex constantly scans the disk for new media.

On the DNS-320 to install the addon PlexMedia Server is impossible. There are add-ons only for such models: DNS - 320L/325/327L/340L/345.

This is a question for Plex 0.9.9.14 and not the addon v.1.05... If Plex 0.9.9.14 has this problem, ready to collect another version, which does not have this problem.

All the plugins are in the directory
/mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins
Access to this directory, for example, possible for SCP. Under Windows this program WinSCP. The same is possible with an addon elFinder (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=61650.0).

Can you show me how can I give "plex" user access to all my folders on NAS? Or this is some other problem?

Thank you for answering!

Here is the basic instructions on how to install/get Plex working.
Download Plex.  Access your NAS by typing the IP address and login.  Go to Management then Application Management.  Look at the left column (in grey box) and click "Add Ons" then "Choose File" (box) and browse to find the Plex download and select it.  Then click "Apply".  You should see the blue circle (uploading/installing) and eventually a popup will ask for permission as it's not a recognised application - click yes and wait further.  Eventually the screen will refresh and show Plex as installed.  You need to click the green arrow to start it.  Then once the green arrow becomes red go to Applications at the top and look for Plex icon in the list "Enabled Add Ons" and click it.  On the next click "Launch Interface".

A new window will open for Plex.  You need to register (free) and then begin to add your content.  To do this simply click the +(plus sign) to the right of your NAS drive (top left) and follow the general options.

On my system Plex uses Port 32400 (which is standard for all I think)

I've only had issues when installing updates and to repair the issues I just remove the old and reboot the NAS the intall new - everything else seems straight forward.

Actually, the Plex Media Server is run by a special user plex who doesnt have access to the local shares by default.

HTH's

Thank you for your detailed explanation but I have done just as you have described here and repeated that again - but with no luck... Still having the same message on plex home screen: "You do not have permission to access this server."  :o

I have finally managed to solve the issue - just restarted NAS to factory default setting, deleted all apps and again only install Plex application. Than it worked without problems...
Actually, I have also removed static IP and instead put DHCP option...

Thank you all for your help...

It's probably (but don't quote me) to do with the "language" selection - whilst setting a media type the language will be blank and the dropdown arrow doesn't function

Eventually after closing the settings window (or plex) and retrying several times it will show up

For all problems like adding the folders and access to page cure is to wait. Install Plex on dns-320l restart nas and leave it couple hours. After some time all working like charm. Only one problem is when I use it with chromecast work normal without subtitles but when I choose subtitle its write that server is not strong to do something. Is there any cure for this? Minidlna work with no problems with or without subs.

Hey,

I'm running this version of Plex on my 320L however it says I need to update to 0.9.12.18 - Do we know when this will be available as I can no longer use Plex with the smartphone app because it needs updating,

Thanks

Firstly, massive thank you to user vtverdohleb for posting this for the DNS-320L. I was beginning to consider the NAS as a bit of a fringe unit that might never see a Plex add-on.

The initial setup worked fine, though indexing took a long long time for my photo collection in particular (which as it turns out is a feature I can't even see myself using over plex.

Presumably after the add on is installed it is inadvisable to then upgrade from within the app?

My main question, however is as follows.

From time to time I will receive an error message trying to view a video that states

"This server is not powerful enough to convert video"

Is this purely a hardware restriction, or is there anything I can configure on the server that will make a difference here?

If it is a hardware restriction, would that mean the DNS-320L is a bit lightweight and if so what NAS drives are generally considered the best for home use that would minimise, or even eliminate this issue I'm seeing?

I'm having issues with Plex 1.10 through 1.11. I had plex running fine on my D-Link 320L NAS device, and then suddenly when I tried to load Plex, I get a "Connection Refused" when trying to open Plex. It just happened suddenly one day and I can't get past it. Its also happening to only a couple other Add-Ons too like CouchPotato.

Why are my Add-Ons saying "Connection Refused" ? I tried reinstalling the add-on, restarting the nas, shutting down for hours and booting back on, all end with the same result. Connection Refused.

Could it possibly be from trying to update Python v2 but it actually failed and nothing showed up in the add-ons list. Could it have changed permissions? I feel like that was the only recent change i applied before it all started refusing the connection.

Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Don't try to enter immidiatelly to the plex application after the installation. Wait a couple of minutes and then try again.
This is the main reason why you have the connection refused.

I have version 0.9.15 an its works great....apart from that i can't seem to able to make any foreign subtitles to work.

Anyone Anything on that?

it says "Donate", but how come it says I only have 80 days?

Does this mean I have to keep paying to use this add-on?

Actually, I have also removed static IP and instead put DHCP option...

Thank you all for your help...

I tried all of these. I deleted every Add-on in my list. Did factory reset, recreated all my users, reinstalled only Plex and the new version 1.13, and still get a connection refuse. This has happened before and it was conflicting with a bandwidth monitor i had running but now NOTHING else is running except for afp protocol and FTP. I've had this running before and there was no conflict. Any idea's? Because I'm out of ideas.... I have my plex on a assign IP address and its set on both ends, This has worked before as I stated, but just suddenly it stopped. Actually, I installed a new hard drive that had a blackup on it and I told it to integrate the drive or else it said there might be errors, so I did which relocated all the old apps I had on there. I think it might have applied Plex over Plex again and now it thinks the port is being taken up... So I tried removing that drive completely, and its still an issue. I might try another factory reset with that hard drive out but I feel like its not going to work...

Any ideas as to WHY Plex gets a connction refusal? I know its probably because the port is being conflicted with another service but now I'm confuzzled because there's nothing else running!

Any help would be VERY much appreciated. Thanks guy!

I did that. I know to restart the NAS after entering the serial... It was working until I installed another hard drive that also had a backup from my previous NAS with all the apps and it said if i wanted to integrate it into the system or else I might get errors and crash if I dont. Once I did that, I've been getting the connection refused. But I've uninstalled every add-on I have, even factory reset, and I still get "connection refused" after i only reinstall plex. I've let it sit for 2 days and I still get "connection refused."

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing the conflict here? I have a D-Link DNS320L.

Any help is very appreciated. Thanks.

This from Plex

What you're downloading is not something official from D-Link, but rather from a 3rd-party. We do not currently offer Plex Media Server for D-Link NAS devices.
This 3rd-party who is requiring payment in order to activate/run Plex Media Server is in violation of our Terms of Service. We definitely do not encourage installing unofficial Plex Media Server releases from unknown 3rd-party sources and you certainly should never pay for them (PMS is free).

I spend a lot of personal free time to adapt third-party software (including PMS) under the NAS D-Link. I believe that my work can be rewarded. Moreover, after some time, the serial numbers are opened for free use. This was written on my website.
If the official version of the add-ons for PMS NAS D-Link will appear on the site plex.tv, I'm just glad.

Please I need a help here...There's a problem with Plex serials numbers activation for NAS 320L. My Plex (version 1.15) stopped to work, so i installed other COM versions (i have the serials numbers), says activated but nothing works, shows "connection reset". Older versions (not COM) install successfully and works well (Like 1.10 UA). Please solve it, thanks in advance.

Perhaps a new version of Plex for some reason did not correctly perceive the old base of media content. Version "1.10 UA" works because the base of the old media content is simply removed.
Should help the following:
1. Remove add-on the Plex
2. Remove the base media \\Volume_1\Plex_Library
3. Install and activate the last available add-on Plex.
Base media content need to rescan again

Hi guys,

I'm trying to install Plex addon without success.

Follow the details:

I tried in more than 1 Browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, IE) and the problem is always the same.

I already restarted and powered off and on the server, but even with these steps, the installation cannot finish.

I have 5 others addons installed without problem (Phyton, SickRage, SSH, MiniDlna and Transmission) and a lot of free space in the HD.

Does anyone had the same problem and can help me to solve it ?

Although questions about Plex - I think this topic is already all issues have been resolved.

This surely doesn't come from Plex.

How do I get rid of this?

Hello,
do anybody knows if exist a plax version for DNS320L that's working with Iphone, Smart TV or PS4 application?
I'm currently using the free version from share center add on pages ( vers 1.10 of 2.10.2017) and it's working fine with pc or android box but no way to works with ps4, Smart TV or  iphone.
I know plex officially stopped supporting DNS320L but maybe there is an alternative way to let it works(?) or an unofficial plexx version?

thank you for your help!!
