Hi

Cannot get internet connection through router

I have just purchased the DWR116 (wireless N300) router. Also just purchased the Huawei E8372 USB internet dongle (4g) from Optus.
Dongle works perfectly when plug it into everything. Lights on and solid. Plug it into the router and also same lights come on solid indicating it is internet active and no problems with dongle.

When i go into router settings and set up internet connections i have followed all instructions perfectly with settings for the 3g/4g LTE. Have also downloaded the Optus recommended settings what to do. I have updated the firmware of the router off the DLINK support page. I have tried auto/manual/everything I can to get it to connect with no luck. I have tried changing the router IP address to a different range to the dongle (even tho it already was). It almost seems like the router doesn't recognise the dongle, but i don't know. It says connecting for a period of time then goes to disconnecting. I have searched forums far and wide with no luck

Any help would be appreciated i'm up to 5 hours trying to get it to connect

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Make sure the dongle is supported by this model router. You may need to contact your regional D-Link support office and ask them about this.
