Author Topic: ip address in reservation table does not match ip address in device info  (Read 4562 times)

I set up a dhcp reservation table for the four devices on the network. I then switched to static ip and every device in the connection is correct except the most important one, which returns an unknown mac address instead of the one reserved in the table. How do I change this?

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.
  • Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options, Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
  • Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual or under Setup/PARENTAL CONTROL/Set to>None: Static IP or Obtain Automatically From ISP.
  • Enable Use Unicasting (compatibility for some ISP DHCP Servers) under Setup/Internet/Manual.
  • Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking. Link>Finding Faster DNS Addresses using Name Bench
  • Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
  • Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. It's recommended not to use a Static IP address on the device while reservations are being used ON the router.

My webserver is connected to the router and must have the same ip every time it connect. That is the nub of the problem, the webservers ip is reserved but is being released to another mac address than the one specified.

Even if you shut off this other Mac Address client device and reboot the router, is the reserved IP address for the web server getting the IP address that you reserved for it ON the router?

I would turn OFF ALL devices accept for the web server and maybe one wired PC to manage the router unless you can manage the router from the web server as well. Reboot the router with all devices turned off and ensure that the IP addresses for these 2 devices are reserved correctly. Once that is done. Graduate turning ON the devices and reserving them 1 at time and reserving them. You should be able to get the router to reserve and hand out proper reserved addresses to each device.
