DIR-605L Access Point lost internet after 1 day
« on: July 12, 2017, 05:01:59 PM »

I set up a new DIR-605L as a wireless access point to extend my home wi-fi network.  I am using Comcast Xfinity internet services and have a Motorola SB6121 as my cable modem.  I then have a Linksys EA6400 set up as my main router, wired directly to the SB6121.  Lastly, I have hardwired by CAT5E cable from the EA6400 upstairs to the DIR-605L.

The Linksys EA6400's IP address is 168.165.1.1 and I reassigned the DIR-605L to have 168.165.1.2.  I assigned it a static IP on the EA6400 using this IP address.  Both are on subnet 255.255.255.0.

Both are broadcasting the same wifi name and use the same password.

When I first set this up, it worked perfectly and I had lightning fast internet connection in previous dead spots upstairs.

Now, 1 day later, I can still connect to the upstairs access point with strong wi-fi signal, but I have only very slow and intermittent internet access.  Access downstairs near the EA6400 and wired to the EA6400 are still lightning fast.

I called Comcast and got them to try to register the MAC address of my DIR-605L and set up "bridge".  They did everything they could (short of sending tech out) and still I have nothing upstairs on Dir-605L.

Any suggestions?

thanks!
Joe

Are you using the 605L in this configuration?

What channels are you using on the 605L and the main host router? Be sure the channels are different and farthest apart.
