Title: DWR-953 WAN settings - 4G only and VPN (PPTP)
Post by: sebastien75 on June 04, 2018, 02:38:40 AM
Hello,

I bought a DWR-953 and I'm a bit surprised about the WAN options.

On the page to set up the WAN you have the following choices:
Dynamic IP (DHCP)
Static IP
PPPoE
PPTP
L2TP
4G LTE/3G

In my case I'd like to use only 4G (no RJ45 cable, and ADSL) connection and a VPN (using PPTP protocol) both.
But it seems no to be possible, because you have to choose 4G or PPTP !
Strange, it's like Dlink was thinking the 4G modem is a protocol such like PPTP, L2TP.
As far as I know it could be possible to use the 4G connection with the the PPTP (VPN, my phone did it)...
Does some on test it, or manage to use VPN with the 4G connection (without cable for WAN) ?

Thank you for answers
BR
Sebastien

You might contact your 4G provider and ask them what is need to get this particular router working on there network. Contact your regional D-Link support office as well for additional help and information. This unit is not sold here in the USA so we don't have experience with these models.
