DCS-5222L - Email notifications with Gmail SMTP
« on: June 28, 2015, 01:29:22 AM »

Hi,

For the last almost a week I've been trying to get the email notifications working with Gmail SMTP server. They work just fine with another server (I have tried Yahoo and another one from my ISP) but the Gmail refuses to work for me. Everytime when I press the Test button I get always the message "Test Error."

Settings:
Server name: Gmail2
Sender email address: dmircea@gmail.com
Recepient email address: dmircea@gmail.com
Server address: 74.125.136.108
Username: dmircea@gmail.com
Password: my email password
Port: 587
This server requires a secure connection (StartTLS): Checked

I have tried both with the IP address (as above) or FQDN (smtp.gmail.com).
My Google account is set to allow less secure apps.

Has anyone any idea how what to try next?

Regards
Mircea

Hi.
I set today the Gmail server.
From what you posted i have a difference.
Server is: smtp.gmail.com
Here is a capture of my settings:

I have unlocked the less secure app. access in Google account and is working.

Then add a event and at action select the Gmail action.

Seems that Google causes some issues with there secure app features.

Thanks for letting us know what works for you.
