Title: Issues - Cannot Change Password
Post by: fullerfury on October 25, 2016, 09:15:36 AM
I am having a few issues with my  DNR-202L Mydlink Camera Video Recorder.

It started when out of nowhere I was unable to log into the ip address that I had set for the 202L.  I would go to 192.168.x.x and it would prompt me to put in the username and password, but after I did it would bring me to a grey screen.  So I decided to reset the device to hopefully get it running again.

After resetting the device, I again logged into the ip provided, at which point it asks me to enter a new password twice (once to put it in, and once to confirm).  When I try and hit the "save" button though, nothing happens.  I attempted this in several browsers with the same result.

Can you please tell me how to get my DNR-202L back up and running?  The cameras are useless without the video recorder.

On a side note, since day one I have never been able to use the quick setup wizard, as it does not find my device.  So the first time I set it up, I figured out the ip the device was assigned to, and did the setup manually.  This time, I cannot change the password.

Thanks,

Garrett

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try FF or IE11..
What OS platform are you using with the DNR?

My DNR Hardware version is A1.

I am not sure about the firmware version. When I navigate to the http://us.dlink.com/products/home-solutions/mydlink-camera-video-recorder/ or http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DNR-202L I do not see a status option.  I had updated it to the newest firmware version about a month ago, but I am not sure if that update stays after a factory reset.

I am in the USA.

I tried using both firefox and Internet Explorer without luck.  Both browsers are completely up to date.

I am on windows 10.

You should see v2.04 FW listed here using any browser:
http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DNR-202L (http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DNR-202L)

After doing the FW update the settings should remain from my experience.

If you can't get logged into the DNR, I would disconnect any USB drives from the DNR. Clear all browser caches. Factory reset the DNR, then log into the DNRs web page at the IP address given to it by the main host router. You can review your routers client table to see what IP address it got.

I sometimes get a grey screen in ie11 on win 7. I just refresh the page and it loads in.

Then yes, I have the newest firmware.

I followed your directions.  I unplugged the usb hard drive from the DNR. I reset the device again.  I then went into internet explorer and deleted the cache (I made sure to look up directions on google just in case) and reset the browser.  I then located the new ip address that the DNR was given by my router and navigated to it.

Just like last time, I put in the username as admin and no password, and it immediately put me onto a page that asked me to enter a new password twice.  I entered the new password two times, and hit save, and again just like last time nothing happened.

RYAT3.  I am no longer seeing the grey screen after reseting the device the first time, but I had opened microsoft edge, internet explorer, firefox, and google chrome and all 4 browsers were giving me that grey screen before the reset.

Thanks for your reply.

Now try doing a factory reset on the DNR, hold the reset button in for 10 seconds. Close then reopen the browser. There should be no user name or PW seen here.

Do you have another PC you can use to try this?
You might try downloading the SetupWizard.exe from that link and install it and see if you can get the DNR set up that way...

I attempted it on another computer and I was able to log in without an issue.  Thanks for your help.

Any ideas what is preventing me from being able to login on my computer?

After changing the password on the second computer, I tried again to login on this one, and it brought me to that grey screen again.  This was not an issue I was having a month ago, and I can still log into the ip adresses of the cameras.

Same Windows 10 on this different PC?
Were seeing some issues with Windows 10 OSs and it's introducing networking issues with various networking devices. Unlike Windows 7, 10 seems problematic.

Was there any changed to 10 recently? Updates?
Do you have any browser security add-ons enabled or PC security SW installed?

The other computer is also windows 10.

I do not think I have done any updates, or made any changes...

I do not have any security addons on internet explorer as I do not use it regularly.

Odd. Something on your 1st PC differs then from the 2nd one.

Both connected to same router and using IP address reservations?
I recommend setting the DNRs IP address to 192.168.#.202 and as a static ON the DNR. That how I have mine set up. The IP address should be out side if your main host routers IP address pool, usually 192.168.#.100 to .200.

I have it set to 192.168.x.250 already and it seems to be functioning properly.

The 202L is incompatible with W10 due to Java. The workaround is you use IE on W10 and this workaround will work until MSFT phases out IE. It won't be immediate but you wont be able to use it forever. DLINK is pushing outdated hardware IMO.

He was able to get it working on 10 with his other PC. Problem was his 1st PC has something on it causing problems.

My 202 works with my Windows 10 PC.

5. Is Internet Explorer 11 the last version of Internet Explorer?
Yes, Internet Explorer 11 is the last major version of Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer 11 will continue receiving security updates and technical support for the support lifecycle of the version of Windows on which it is installed.
