Title: Scheduling issue [A1, 1.10WW]
Post by: alexlin on February 28, 2014, 10:22:27 AM
I just started to use the DIR-850L yesterday and I tested the scheduling feature around 5PM.

The setup is like below: 1) Enable both 2.4 & 5G WiFi with different SSID (say SSID A & B); 2) For SSID A, I associated it with a schedule from 0900 to 2100, and SSID B is always on.

Both radios ran pretty okay until 9PM. When SSID A turned off/disappeared by then, guess what - SSID B was gone as well. I thought the schedule should be able to work independently with different SSIDs, or am I wrong? Have anyone encountered the similar issue?

Was the 5Ghz radio SSID associated in any way with the schedule?

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Was the 5Ghz radio SSID associated in any way with the schedule?

H/W: A1
F/W: 1.10WW
5GHz radio schedule setting: Default is "always" (not associated with schedule), and I've also tried to associate with a different schedule which is always on; but not working either.

USA; now can you help to confirm if it is a bug, or suggest a solution?

I recommend trying the follow FW reload from this link:
http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-850L (http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-850L)

Please use the following process:
FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

There maybe some differences from WW and NA region FW so we need to rule out.

Just just set up the router from scratch after doing the last factory reset and configure the WiFi and scheduling and let us know the results.

Hi Furry,

I upgraded the f/w (DIR-850L_FIRMWARE_1.10B08.bin) from the link you provided, but the version still shows "1.10WW". Is it correct or there should be a US/NA version?

Also I'm not quite sure about what did you mean about "the difference between WW and US versions". Do you mean the schedule function of US version should work? I appreciate all the help and don't mind trying, but I wish you can confirm if the scheduling setting really works on you side.

Hmm. Interesting. I'll have to wait to hear back from D-Link on weather or not this model router is supposed to have World Wide FW or North America FW. D-Link usually separates FW versions by regions. Most U.S. based routers have the NA region FW loaded. This router maybe an exception.

I can't verify this problem since I don't have this exact model. However I can test with my 826L as it's code base is the same I suppose and see.

I would presume that the scheduling feature should be independent between the radios and should not shut them both off of only one is scheduled.

I'll see what my 826L does this weekend and hope we hear back from D-Link as well.

Please be patient.

Thanks and please let me know if it works on your 826L.

I also tried finding the 1.09US f/w you posted on top of forum but it is not on any official websites.

Updates: I have also tried to associate the scheduling with the 2.4G guest zone. The result is consistent that one the time is up, all three SSIDs (2.4G, 2.4G guest, 5G) gone together.

Give that v1.09 link a try. I corrected the links. v1.09 is available.

I've got a moderator thats going to give this a try on his 868L as well.

Will post our results...

Tried the v1.09 f/w (shows "1.09" without "WW"), but the result is the same: one off and all off.

I presume this is an issue with in the FW then.

I ran a quick test with my 826L and using a 10 minute time frame, setting the 2.4Ghz to the schedule and leaving 5Ghz set to ALWAYs, the 2.4Ghz radio shut off leaving the 5Ghz radio going.

I presume this is a FW issue that needs to be addressed by D-Link.

I'll pass this to D-Link for review. I'll post back when and if I get info.

Please be patient.

Thanks Furry. I think it is something with F/w too.

I'll post if I hear anything back. I highly recommend phone contacting D-Link support and talk to someone at level 2 or higher. The more they hear about this the better.

Let us know if you find out anything...
