D-Link DIR-825 Torrent client - slow download speed

(1/1)

pnpetrov:
Hi,

I recently bought a D-Link DIR-825 router from my internet provider and tried to enable its torrent client in order to more easily download movies and play them on my TV.
Everything works fine except the download speed.
I am on a 100mbit/s network and I usually download torrents with speed of ~10MB/s but the torrent client of the router barely reaches 1MB/s. The average speed is around 600Kb/s which is absolutely not normal.

I have tried with different torrents from different torrent trackers and different storage devices.
I have also updated the firmware to v1.0.6

I tried to contact support but apparently, DIR-825 is not supported anymore...

I will be pretty thankful if you can hint me on what could be the reason for the low download speed.

The whole setup is pretty basic, with no custom settings on the router side except the storage device and enabling the torrent client.
I am not sure what additional information would be in help so just let me know what info you will need and how to find it.

Thanks

P.S. First time posting into this forum so please excuse me if this isn't the correct thread and please move my topic to where it belongs.

* What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.            DIR-825

* What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.            v1.0.6

* What region are you located?            Bulgaria (Europe)

* Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?            The issue is with the embedded torrent client so I do not think this question is relevant.

* Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?            No, it is a new setup so there should be no need of a factory reset

* What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?            Cable

* What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?            Not sure I understand the question. I have only a DIR-825 router at home and I do not know much about the ISP

FurryNutz:
Do other downloads work fast while not using the torrent client?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have? Or is the DIR router connected to a wall jack for internet service?

pnpetrov:
I do not have such issues when downloading torrents from my laptop and PC. The download speed goes up to more than 5MB/s no matter if the torrent client of the router is enabled or not.

I do not have any other devices at home except for the router. The router is directly connected to a LAN cable that comes from a wall socket and goes somewhere outside my apartment.
