Hi, have purchased a DNS-343 recently. While it is running ok, I would like to be able to run a bit torrent client from it.
I know there are some modifications out there, but will future "official" firmware for this NAS offer BT download capability?
-
Yes it should be available in future firmware however I do not have an ETA for firmware at this time.
-
Four months later - any updates?
I'm choosing between a 323 and a 343 and this will definitely make the decision easier :)
-
Yes. It is available in the beta firmware. This typically means the official code with have this feature.
-
Well to be specific...its available in a beta that is not available to public currently =P
-
Well I'm a little reassured but I've never bought a D-Link product so I have no idea of your release schedules and workplans. Typically how long do internal beta features take to reach the end users? Are we talking weeks, months or quarters? I'm not looking for a commitment on the feature nor do I expect a date but can you give me a ballpark figure for the optimistic outcome of the feature getting through final Dev and QA?

343 has been pending for quite some time. We are planning a July launch for this firmware pending no disasters :).
-
Excellent! Thanks very much for the help with this.

Is some ETA on Torrent part release? ;D

Same time as 1.03.

Is dates available?

So, July is over and still no BT support. BTW, unit works fine with new firmware. I have 4x2TBt. drives and as R5 it runs good. Yes, I can't watch 1080P mkv files from it- to slow in NFS, but for this price.... ::)

To Slow? I have 1080 mkv's as well and they play fine. I can get 12MB/sec using 4x 1.5TB's on 100mbit/sec link or 30+MB/sec over gigabit with jumbo frames of 9k enabled.

Try to play m2ts file, copied from BlueR disk.

Just flashed firmware to 103 beta 73 and added Torrent add on - nice!
Thanks.
Will there be any enhancements to this package like scheduling down the track?

Installed 2 days ago and find some interesting things:
As soon file downloaded, upload of this file stops; If i click on delete complete, it deletes only 1 file at the time. If i have to delete 2 and more completed files, i have to click so many times. If I'm trying to delete dowloaded torrent and file and click "delete", it deletes only torrent, but not downloaded file. I re-flashed my DNS but same thing. I don't call it problem, because it is only BETA and I hope it could be fixed. Or I'm not lucky.... :D

This is normal behaviour in most BT clients. This BT client is based off the official BT client according to the mods.

any tuning for a faster and more stable BT dnld
