  • What region are you located?

  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Ensure that different SSID names are used between each WiFi 2.4/5Ghz radios. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighbouring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using?
  • 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N or AC on 5Ghz?
  • Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
  • Try setting a manual Channel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_channels) to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions. Try channel 48 or 149 on 5Ghz.
  • What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Encryption_Standard), so you might want to try TPIK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporal_Key_Integrity_Protocol) only or Auto TPIK and AES.
  • What wireless devices do you have connected?
  • Ensure any devices with WiFi adapter drivers are updated.
  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48327.0) to find out. How many?

Region: Brazil
ISP Service: DSL
ISP Modem: Baytec RTA04N
Speed-> UP: 1 Mbps, Down: 15Mbps
Thanks for reply.

What is the Mfr and model of the AC device your connecting to the router.

As a quick test, disable WPA security on 5Ghz radio temporarily and then try to connect the AC device to the 5ghz radio, does the router still reboot then? Re-enable WPA2 after testing.

The router still restarting when connected any of the three devices without WPA security.

You might do a factory reset, manually reload the FW file, factory reset then set up from scratch.

Should I try the firmware 2.00 or 2.03 ?

Either one...can try both if you want too...I presume if either don't work then I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Got the same issue with my galaxy tab s2,  the support send me a 2.04 beta version, problem fixed. If you wish to fix the issue on other firmware, change the 5ghz channel from auto to a fixed value less than 3 digits.

Different case for me, my Nexus Player refuse to connect to AC if channel is two digits, need to change channel to 3 digits for it to connect.  In any case the B1 version of firmware has too many security loop holes, wps can not be disable is one big no no.  Flashed to Tomato firmware and call it a day.  Overall  imo Dlink should do something about this new style firmware.  simple for newbies or non tech is ok but should not given up security for simplicity.

Users are encouraged to report possible security vulnerabilities here:
http://support.dlink.com/ReportVulnerabilities.aspx (http://support.dlink.com/ReportVulnerabilities.aspx)

We see in other DIR series routers were WPS feature as added so users can disable it. Not sure why it wasn't on this Rev B model.
This specific Rev B model router is not sold in the NA region so I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Thank you.

This is my second Dlink wireless router and to be honest my 1st Dlink Wireless router was also my 1st wireless of any kind, I think it was in the late 90's or early 00's, it was a wireless b router, had it for 10 days and returned it, the firmware then was a joke, I needed to reboot it at least twice a day.  Fast forward to May 2016, if not I saw this DIR-868L at a very attractive price sitting at my local Staples's clearance bin and I know it has ddwrt and Tomato support, I wouldn't touch another Dlink.  If you google "dlink router Vulnerability" you'll know what I mean.

Anyway, thanks for the links but to be honest if Dlink is serious about their firmwares, they would have fixed it many years ago.  Finally, don't worry, Dlink is not the worst, Dlink is still fighting with Tplink for this title.  If you were a Dlink staff, I hope you are not offended, I am just telling what I  (as a consumer) think about Dlink wireless router.  Finally, I have a Dlink 4 port gigabit switch and a DNS-320L working fine within my home network.

D-Link takes security very serious and and most of D-Link vulnerabilities have been fixed. D-Link does things a bit differently and each region of D-Link does there own development and support. So the Rev B is out side of the USA realm of development and support. I asked about it when If first heard that a Rev B was being released, just not in the USA since the Rev A came and and was a great success. Unfortunately both Rev A and B models are headed towards EOL in development and the only thing that would be and should be resolved is any security vulnerabilities. After that, users will need to find alternative FW if the routers support. I think the 868L HW is Broadcom based so DD-WRT and other should work well to help extend life.

Ive been using D-Link routers since 06-07 starting with the DGL-4500, another great router. Seen issues here and there however for the most part, D-Link has some great routers and do work well. I've used other Mfrs and just not impressed or they don't work well and not as good at D-Links. Trust me, I've been testing a lot since joining the forums.

Good Luck in your endeavours and enjoy the 868L for what it is. HW rocks.

 ;)

Hi, I tried 2.01 and 2.03 firmware versions and in both versions, the router still have same problem: restarting repeatedly. Only firmware 2.00 works fine. I suggest don't update to 2.01 or 2.03 versions.
