Problem with DHP-W610AV
« on: April 14, 2019, 09:33:56 AM »

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my PowerLine : i have 2 devices, one plugged to the internet box, the second one to a power outlet and they randomly don't find each other.
Everything doing well and then the Powerline LED (the little home pic) often turn red (but not always) and then goes off. The LED come back on later, after 5 min to few hours, and goes off again within few moments. It feels like it's about 50% of the time on & 50% of the time off

I tried hard on fixing this, but i tried everything that crossed my mind... and i think I need help.

What i tried :
  • Resetting the devices
  • Replacing the devices (i bought another (same) one, i tried replacing them both or only one)
  • Removing all others ethernet and wifi connections, letting only the powerline
  • Having fewest possible electric devices plugged on in the house
  • Allowing static IP adress for the powerline
  • Connecting the wifi transmitter on a power outlet close to the other device

I did not notice any incidence in this behaviour in any of these things I tried.

Do you have any idea on where the problem could be or do you think of any other solution i can try ?

Thank you, and good afternoon.

Rudy.

Try the PLs in the same room or one room away to see if they exhibit the same after a few hours of operation.

That is strange. You have done the correct troubleshooting. The fact that you have purchased multiple devices and any combination creates the same issue, there must be some strange quirk with your electrical system. Possible wire material or something is creating an incompatibility issue with the powerline adapters.

Last things to try:
1. If you do not connect any ethernet cable to either adapter, does the behavior continue?
2. Connect normal (1 to router and other to network), have a computer on the 2nd powerline adapter do a continuous ping out to the internet
Windows: start > type CMD in box. At prompt type ping 4.2.2.2 -t

Let it run and see if the powerline adapters disconnect/drop.

I would call tech support in your country and see if they have any resolution or offer a different model.
