Just restored a family members DIR-825 Revision B from DDWRT. Now It has the time/date bug that prevents the year being past 2012. I cannot find the newer firmware (link doesn't go to a download) and the work around nist fix doesn't want to work either (guessing that the time it too far from actual date).
Any other suggestions on how I can put this router back into use?
-
Give the v2.09 a go. I believe that fixes the date issue.

But, like I said, the link to it seems to not take me to any downloads. Any other access to it? I even tried the dlink ftp site and the 2.09 isn't there.
-
The link goes to the DIR-835 site and then you need to select on the Downloads button. You'll see v2.09 listed there...it's on the Canadian site.

So, you're saying, to get the v2.09NA for the DIR-825, I should go to the DIR-835 canadian site? There is a banner on the 825 site saying No Downloads.
-
Yes. Get it from the Canadian site. I had it loaded on my 825 before I gave it away.
-
What Version of FW is currently loaded on the 825?

That's the problem. I can't get to any link to 2.09. See my first post.

IT's here:

OK, can I ask someone else to follow that link and confirm this? I've been there at least 8 times, used two different browsers and see the banner say Select Version or some such thing, then change to No Downloads. I sure hope I'm not just being a dope, but if it was as easy as going to the firmware site, as I did, then selecting the file link then I wouldn't be taking your attention from football games today.
(Go Niners!).

Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

Now that's a good link, got it now. The link at the top of the first post for 2.09 doesn't go to this page.
Thanks for the help, I should be good now.
Happy New Year

The link at the top of this thread goes to a informational post about the FW which also has the link to the same place as I just posted for you.
Look for the GET HERE link.

Got the newer FW and everything went fine, and now the 825 is back in service.
May have seemed simple from your end, but your help did make the difference in me getting this done.
-
Glad you got it working.
Enjoy ;)

I received my DIR-815 Rev A the other day from fleabay. Got it on the cheap. Figured I'd get one to see how it actually performs. I after looking at all the pictures, I visually thought the router was of normal or average big size, Comparable to the DIR-655 class. Wrong, it's smaller. Just a bit bigger than the DIR-601 series. ??? Pictures are deceiving. ::) Anyways, the Rev A came loaded with v1.00 shipping FW. I got it up and running and soon after I had it running, I noticed that WiFi on both radios was not connecting to the Internet. Devices were connecting to the radios, just zero Internet. Even with WPA disabled. Noticed that a couple of my DISH devices could not be added to the Reservation list. Kept saying "Invalid Host Name". So I went and upgraded to v1.04. Wifi Internet and Invalid Host Name was fixed. Got it all set up and running. Works great now. I wish they incorporated custom QoS rules though like on the DIR-815 Rev B and made the "admin" log in name static in the user box. Other than these features, router is working well.
At this time I have a AC class bridge connected to the 5Ghz radio and a Xbox SLim connected to the bridge. Gaming is great. OPEN NAT. I presume single gaming on XBL is ok for this router. Having 2 or more maybe problematic as we can't set up custom QoS rules. However, Application Triggering may be the configuration needed for multiple devices which this model router has. ;)
Router is stable on v1.04 for users interested. Good router for a single gaming user or mom and pop home.
This thread will incorporate three model 8 series routers for the most current release of FW versions available.

Just bought a DIR-825 from the thrift store for $5.00. ;D
(I jumped on it because I've loved my current DIR-655 for so many years, but I need 5 GHz with all my new 2.4 GHz neighbors & interference with my Bluetooth devices.)
Hardware Version: B1, Firmware Version: 2.02NA
I read the Most Current FW Releases for DIR 815/825/835 series routers topic and end-of-life post, and found my way to the Canadian site to get firmware 2.09.
It says, " Firmware -Must have 2.05 or above (2.09)."
Do I understand correctly that I first need to install "Firmware -Required for 2.04 or below (2.05)"?
Thank you.
-
Install v2.05, then install v2.09.
Follow the FW update process: Link> >FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

Yes, with your clarification, the two-version-steps updates to v2.09 went without a hitch, and my DIR-825 has been operating swimmingly ever since. Many thanks!
-
Was wondering. Glad it's working good. Mine is still working great at my buddies place.
Enjoy. ;)
