My LAN:
Motorola ADSL modem connects my DGL-4300 to the internet
DGL-4300 connects to Dlink DGS-10160 gigabit switch
DGS-10160 connects the 10 ip devices of my LAN
I use the DGL-4300 to provide wi-fi, DHCP w/ assigned IP addresses & MAC filtering.
I would like to us the DGL-4300's Access Control rules to restrict when my kid's can access the internet. The problem occurs when I try to use access control, every device must have an access control rule but the DGL-4300 only allows 8 rules and I have 10 devices. Is there a work around?
Thx

What HW version is your router?
What FW version is currently loaded?
It's possible that you have hit the limit of this router however the options are set by a pool that is tied to other options that you maybe using. I wonder if you turned off options like WMM ENABLE, WDS Enable, Gamefule, might get you one or 2 more rules you can add. One the other hand you might have to just figure out what priority that your 10 devices needs and allow for only 8 devices, the other 2 will have to be manage in some other way. Not sure what the maximum rules you can set on this router.

i tried to deselect any options i wasn't using. still kept getting an error message when I would try to save changes to the access control rules. but saved 7 rules and rebooted, then the router allowed me to add other rules and save them. maybe there is an 8 change limit before saving changes, i'm not sure but i have 9 access control rules in place currently. i have not tested to make everything works, but i'll find out soon enough. thanks for your help.

HDWR v A1
FMWR v 1.4

Ok, I see there is FW v1.9 for it however I don't think this would address the MAC rule limitation. I'm checking to see if I can find out some more about this router.
