Constant LED Blinking
« on: November 11, 2011, 09:38:30 AM »

Just installed the D View software for my DCS 930L as i found the web access and utilities totally useless. Not to mention i could not get into advanced settings. Couple of questions i have the camera programmed to only record certain days and only with motion detection. I noticed that the LED is constantly blinking until i shut the console down im assuming that's just to show network activity? I would also like to disable internet access to this camera. If i just del the camera out of the my dlink account will it no longer be available over the internet? Just don't want to find out that this thing has been broadcasting all month and run me over my limit

The DCS-930L always broadcasts over the Internet, although bandwidth will not be used unless a client (e.g. mydlink or D-ViewCam) makes a request from the DCS-930L to access the video/audio feed. The firmware does not have an option to disable broadcasting. If you would like to disable broadcasting to address potential security concerns, another member suggested adding a rule within the router to block the DCS-930L from broadcasting outside of the home network.

so far not so good... entered the IP address of the Camera and blocked it from internet access and for some reason it blocked everything on my network from the internet

I'll send a message to one of our resident router experts to lend a hand.  ;)

got it... Duhhhh grabbed the wrong IP address. but does not seem to work as i can still access the camera on the mydlink site?
Now i just have to figure out how to keep it from constantly accessing my computer until its triggered. It has transferred a huge amount of data to my computer in a hour and cam is not set to monitor yet

I sent a message for some help. In the meantime, do you have a D-Link router, and if so, what model?

Yes, what host router do you have if any?
I would resume that a schedule needs to be set up if he's got a DLink router then use the Mac address and set up a access control rule. I think this will disable any access to the Internet. He would need to set up a reserved IP address for the Cam on the router as well. Not sure if this would help for a triggering operation though. Does the Cam have any control options for operation or setting up how it works? If not, maybe this Cam set up might not be a good solution if its ON all the time. Keep us posted.

Let's see what his host router is...I believe this will be where he needs to control the traffic going in and out.

Im running a Linksys E3000 router. I think i have the cam blocked now with the right ip and del the came on the mydlink site as it was still able to access it? I also think i may have figured out the constant blinking and computer access when the unit was not programmed to be on at that time. I had the main control panel and timed recording options set for start up. I took the main control panel out of the start up and rebooted and the access and blinking stopped. I should be able to see if the timed recording started when i get home tonight i don't remember seeing a icon in my task bar for the timer to start up but i guess ill find out...

Lots of great help on this site

Well that did not work. without the main console running the timed recording will not turn on. Sorta pointless to have timed recording if the unit is constantly running the whole time.

When you say "main console", what are you referring to?
. . . and by "unit" do you mean the DCS-932L?
