Title: Uplayer Installation Failed
Post by: fabioec on November 16, 2015, 02:42:57 PM
I have a Mac running OS 10.11.1 and Safari 9.0.1 and before Dlink changed Java to Uplayer everything was fine. But, now I cant access my cameras on mydlink.com because the site keep asking me to install the Uplayer. I downloaded it but just after Uplayer starts to install the following message appears: "Plugin Install Failed".
Can somebody help me
Thank you very much

Do you have any browser add-ons enabled or PC security software enabled? Disable temporarily while installing the plug-in.

Try installing the plug-in in FF?

Just recently, I can't access IP cameras, NAS and routers thru mydlink.com website.  After logging in, it always prompt me to install Uplayer-1.0.2.7.msi but I've already checked the Programs in the control panel  and it's installed.  However, checking Windows 10-IE11's Manage Add-on settings, the said player is not registered.  Antivirus and malware cleaner have found no virus not malware installed.  The account I'm logged in has the administrator rights.   Also tried adding the site in Compatibility View setting but to no avail.  This just happened to me recently  and all 4 PCs (laptop and desktop) are indicating the same problem.   Is there a way I can isolate the cause of this problem?

Does it happen if FF?
You might try removing the plug-in from Windows, clear all browser caches, close the browser then reopen and go into mydlink.com (http://mydlink.com) and have it re-install the plug-in.

I'm using FF v43.0.4 but "Unsupported Browser Detected"  error message is always displayed after llogging in at mydlink.com.  I've checked the uPlayer's platform is only 32 bits only, does this may be the cause for using default IE11 (64bit) and maybe FF (32/64 bit).  For the former browser, is there a way to launch the 32 bit version of IE11 in Windows 10 64 but?  But all my 4 PC (notebooks and desktops) I have tried are prompting to reinstall the plug-in, even the 32 bit Win10 which also exhibits recently the same behavior.

I installed FF yesterday then installed the plug in. I can log in to the MDL service, however it's not connecting to either router or camera, I just get a spinning circle. I don't get a un-supported browser message.

I had the same problem in Mac OS Sierra.  I right clicked on the PluginInstaller app and selected "Show Package Contents".  Then I went to the Contents/MacOS directory and double clicked PluginInstaller.  That worked.  I hope it works for you

I've been getting that error for the last few months.  Log in and the popup saying the addin MUST be installed.  Download, install and just get a spinning circle.  I've done it at work (IT security firm) on FF, Chrome, IE.  Have tried on my personal macbook on Safari, and at home on my Win7 pc with FF, Chrome and IE.

Basically, that makes the site completely un-usable.  There is no way to use MYDlink.com.

In my opinion, this isn't a trivial issue.  It's a vital part of the product offering.

What version of FF are you using?

Last time I checked it was working for me on FF. I was told that if needed to un-install the plug in. Clear ALL browser caches, close or fully exit the browser. Re-open the browser and navigate to the MDL portal and when notifed, re-download and install the package.
FF and chrome browsers are updated frequently which my break operation of the plug in. Chrome has been known to not support plug-ins.
