Is the WiFi really turned off?
« on: October 12, 2020, 04:01:29 PM »

Hi guys,

I set up a schedule for the WiFi to run only during the day and not during the night. The WiFi doesn't indeed work, however the blue LEDs on the router still shine bright for both 5 and 2.4 Ghz

I want the WiFi off so the radio waves are not transmitted to the apartment so am wondering if the LEDs indicate that transmitting is happening and WiFi is only disabled software wise?

Thanks

Link>Welcome!

  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Use a wifi analyzer on a pad and see if you seen signals emanating from the router. No sure if the LEDs will turn OFF when a schedule is used.

I used NetSpot and it's not showing any signal coming from the router so that suggest there's no transmission, I'm just confused by the LEDs :)

Ok, I believe the LEDs will turn OFF when you disable either radio on the 800L. Scheduling doesn't do anything for the LEDs.  ;)

I emailed NetSpot and they confirmed that there aren't any waves transmitting if the app doesn't show it so I guess the LEDs just stay on when using a schedule
