Title: need a router for its shareport feature to access hard disk wirelessly
Post by: gvp on May 07, 2015, 11:42:17 PM
I am using dir 810l router to connect to internet
I have seagate expansion hard disk (not the portable one), which I would like access wirelessly

Need another router for its shareport feature, which I would like to connect to my existing network wirelessly (bridge)

which one's read and write speed would be better 510l or 850l.
Or do you recommend any other router.
510l has 2 usb port, does it mean that I can connect 2 hard disks

Please help

The 510L and 850L do not support any bridge mode features:

I recommend getting into a DAP or a DIR series that officially supports bridging.

Most speeds on USB are not high performance. If your looking for high performance or xfering of large amounts of data, LAN NAS storage device would be recommended. If your just using USB for some streaming of small bandwidth data and pictures and music, then USB would work well.

The 510L could support two drives at a time.

Thanks a lot, that was very helpful.

Currently I have setup a 5Ghz main and a guest account on dir 810l.

Is it possible to connect 510l 5Ghz account to my 5Ghz main network preferably wirelessly?
Also I will be using the shareport feature to access video tutorials on my ipad mini2. Will there be any difference in hard disk read and write speed betweem 510l and 850l.

I don't think the 510L does wireless bridging...
