If this is an opportunity to provide requests, then I'd like to see this device supporting RAID10. Please.

I would like to know if anybody upgraded this beta firmware and ... failed and lost data?

Just to gauge the (statistical) risks.

I know - "backup your data before doing this". But this *is* my backup and would need to get another device like it to back it up - a little expensive.

The reason I am considering is that I do use the FTP feature and I'm having some trouble with the AD users, so I was hoping to stabilize it.

Thanks

I can't comment on the statistical risks as there is no quantitative data to offer such calculations. From my understanding, Firmware version 1.05x and 1.06x are identical except for a minor change to FTP. I have not read of any accounts of data loss resulting from an upgrade.

Regarding data backup, you should always maintain a backup of your critical data on a separate physical device. Also, if your DNS-343 is setup using a RAID or JBOD configuration, RAID provides data redundancy, but is not a substitute for true backup.
