Title: xbox 360 and 5 computers work perfectly
Post by: poolman on August 13, 2009, 02:22:54 AM
I purchased a DGL-4500 about 6 months ago and updated to latest firmware and had problems galore. Tried to revert back to factory defaults and never got it working. I returned it and kept factory firmware 1.02 on the 2nd one, enabled gamefuel and disabled dynamic defragmentation. Xbox live works well for 2 Live accounts simultaneously( I'm usually the host) while my other kids dowload and play games online with my other computer. Keep it simple KISS stupid

not being an early adopter pays off?

...OK.

But he is using the f/w that worked best with the earlier models. So if you were an early adopter who didn't upgrade the f/w past 1.02 it would be paying off.

This is something many who visit the forums know too well, but usually too late.

I have a similar situation.......................Xbox 360 Hardwired................Nintendo Wii Wifi'ed................
3 Computers Hardwired.........................4 Laptops Wifi'ed

DGL-4500   H/W Ver.:A1     F/W Ver.:1.02

The reason I bought this router is for online gaming.  It has worked flawless, in the sense that I rarely loose connection to internet in 2 yrs of operation.

My question is this, am I not running this router at its optimum potential by using firmware that's 2 yrs old.

Here is the result of ping test I just ran
C:\>ping google.com -t

Pinging google.com [209.85.225.106] with 32 bytes of data:

Ping statistics for 209.85.225.106:
    Packets: Sent = 16, Received = 16, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 21ms, Maximum = 29ms, Average = 22ms

Please advise......... :-\

How about letting us revert to an older version before the problems started?
