This procedure is designed to create a network map of your DNS ShareCenter volume(s) on local PC(s) in your network.

Procedure

To effectively create a network map of your DNS series device in Windows, you must reference an actual DNS series device directory rather than the IP address. The IP address alone will not provide enough information to direct Windows to a DNS series device directory. The examples below illustrate valid and invalid DNS series device references:

Invalid Reference:

  • \\192.168.1.4

Valid References:

  • \\192.168.1.4/Volume_1
  • \\192.168.1.4/Volume_2
  • \\192.168.1.5/Volume_1/data
  • \\192.168.1.5/Volume_1/[Folder_Path]

A detailed procedure for creating a network map of your DNS series device in Windows is available here: DNS-Series - Mapping a Volume using Windows.
